This can be a sticky? I hate rules but I think we should discuss what is expected as a buyer and seller.
I'll start with some guidlines (that we can change/modify), I'd like as many people as possible to be involved in this.

1. Treat each other as you would like to be treated
2. Good communication is essential
3. There are no signed contracts so your word is a fixed commitment
4. Payment & postage should be made within 3 days? (unless other arrangements are made)
5. Pack items very well. ie. padded envelopes are not suitable for figures thicker than 25mm (1 inch)
6. Take the best pictures you can and describe items well
7. Do not delete sales until they are completed (ie. buyer has left feedback)
8. Attempt to resolve problems privately first (ie. before going public)
9. Keep records of all communication

A few things I am NOT sure on:
1. if seller makes a mistake they pay for return shipping?
2. leave the selling price just mark it as sold (this helps to see current values, but a buyer may not want everyone knowing what they paid)
3. the use of tracked/signed for postage ( I usually take the cheaper option which has neither )
4. first come first served
5. revealing your ebay name

Yes i agree James, perhaps in the feedback thread we could give the buyers/sellers a grading scale eg ...

Price: High (1) Average (2) Bargain (3)
Comms: Excellent (1) Average (2) Hopeless (3)
P+P: Quick (1) and Secure (2) with tracking (3)

So a 3/1/123 is about as good as it gets.

Of course we can stress that this is all optional and not enforced.

Thinkies?

Me thinkies a feedback grading scale might be extreme.( I do understand where you're coming from) Just honest feedback at this stage is good. I'm really unsure of the tracking thing.(perhaps anything over $50 or $100 should be tracked?) I think it should be optional at the buyers risk, but I haven't had anything lost in the mail yet. Of course there is the Paypal issue of needing tracking. I might change my mind if something does get lost LOL. I also don't want to get too formal with this whole rules thing, but it is important we don't have some of the problems that have occured on other sites.

I guess its all down to the buyers/sellers discretion really, what the item is, its price and affordability of tracking etc. Yeh your right m8 Wink

I think this thread can act as a discussion platorm so all members can express there feelings on the topic.

I'm on my phone full of cold traveling to the dam beach because of a selfish girlfriend so its hard for me to type and articulate my points .opinions on the subject but ill be posting more later when I'm in a better setting.

My main goal is to ensure the TIG Classifields are a safe place to trade for everyone but I want to avoid getting bogged down in rules and regulations.

Ild prefer a well written code of conduct / best practise or something similar where buyers and sellers still have freedom and discretion.

The only thing about tracking is, if its going out of country, you can't get tracking all the time on a package. The white custom forms, from what I was told, is your tracking number. The small green ones the PO never scan after the item has shipped for some reason.

Communication both ways is the biggest thing in any deal.

All very good points chris!

Hopefully this thread can pool together a lot of useful information as users from different countries can share there knowledge and experience of the different postal options costs etc etc.

I'm still on the phone as we are driving back from the beach which incidently was pretty cool with 2 metre plus waves!

From my experience postage costs and options in the UK are pretty good with lots of different options that seem decent value when compared to other countires. When I'm home ill add some more info up.

If you do not want me talking to you and pretend that you don't exist... I'm pretty sure those were your words in the chat.

You should probably take Jays advice.... thought it was suggested that we drop it?!?!?!

At least you were able to refrain from using derogatory remarks and swear words!!!

I couldn't agree more on that. Packing wise, its always better to use a box big enough to ship a MOC with or without a star case than what I got the other day. A used JC Pennys box folded in half with one run of bubble wrap (the Bespin Guard).

That's brutal!!! Might as well have just stuck the figure in a padded envelope!!!

Anything I ship gets secured like Fort Knox!!! I feel sorry for AussieJames when he gets all of his things.... gonna take him a day or two to get it all out of the box!!!

Coach..the fact that you don't see anything wrong with your behavior the other day is a warning sign in itself and a reason I don't want anything to do with you, with the exception of giving you shit!
People may have to censor my posts..but they can pretty sure they won't get butt fucked when they deal with me Wink

Here is my suggestion for the etiquette thread :

YOU don't make a $110deal to sell something which includes shipping! Then look on ebay, realise what YOU just sold is going for more Shocked ! and therefor you deserve more than the deal that you just made or it's off.
And if a buyer has already offered to give you a free moc that you have to ship yourself, in return for you feeling duped about the low sale price of your item etc you don't then go and ask for more money when you realised you have fucked up on the postage for the original item you made the deal to begin with?

Your a fucking amateur Coach and if anyone asks that is what I will tell them

Josh remember you have the chance to leave factual feedback at the end of a transaction if your not happy about how a deal went.

As far as im aware this deal is ongoing?

Since i´m a lawyer and a buyer;seller i´ll give my 2 cents.

"1. Treat each other as you would like to be treated"
"2. Good communication is essential"

These two points are the basic for every negotiation. As far as i remember every time i have a negotiation going on i always tried to follow these two points even when the other side miss one of them. The idea is if the other side lacks one of the two points there is no advantage if you do the same. You keep the good treatment and the good comunication until you end the negotiation, after that, you simply never negotiated with the other side again if you feel he/she didnt achieve the minimum respect and communication. I think the main point is once the negotiation started make everything possible to try to fullfill the expectations.

"3. There are no signed contracts so your word is a fixed commitment"

This is a nice point. In Brazil we have signed contracts and "word" contracts and both have the same weight to the law. But in this case here i believe it´s more a case of signed contract since if you have an e-mail sent for someone setting a commitment, this is a written commitment (at least here...lol). Sorry for the legal opinion but i couldnt avoid to post it...lol.

"4. Payment & postage should be made within 3 days? (unless other arrangements are made)"

Totally agree. Nothing to add here.

"5. Pack items very well. ie. padded envelopes are not suitable for figures thicker than 25mm (1 inch)"

Man what really make me angry is receive a "package" that does not protect what is inside. I think every seller must do a package like the one they would like to receive themselves if they were buyers. It´s the smply matter of try to figure out the other side´s point of view. Nothing more, nothing less.

"6. Take the best pictures you can and describe items well"

This is another good point. Thanks God we have digital cameras today so why the hell take a single picture from far far far far away. Come on. Spend some time taking nice pictures of what you are planning to sale. Usually buyers like to see details of the items and a nice session of pictures can be the difference between a buyer choose your item and not someone else. Show details and describes the item. If the buyer asks give him/her a nice background of how you get that item and all about it.

"7. Do not delete sales until they are completed (ie. buyer has left feedback)"

Totally agree.

"8. Attempt to resolve problems privately first (ie. before going public)"

If you follow all the points before the possibility of you have problems are almost zero, but if that happen just keep in mind that a good conversation is the first step to achieve an agreement.

"9. Keep records of all communication"

Another nice point. Never delete mails or convos before all the negotiation is ended. I usually delete this after a year, but that is me. Very Happy

Damn, where were you when I needed a good lawyer, Marcello. Very Happy

I'm not taking anyones side, so don't read it as I am. Joe can confirm this on what I'm about to say. When it comes down to postage, make sure you know what it will be before giving a quote. I got burned hard before on shipping costs, but not one time did I ask for the buyer to pay more on my mistake. I just sold two pieces for the Marvel Legends Apocolypse BAF the other day for $6.00 shipped. So to say when I got to the post office and found out what the actual shipping was, I made a nickel on those two pieces (shipping came out to be $5.95). All in all what ever the final price is quoted, thats the final price. And yes Marcello, the spoken contract in the States is just as binding as a written one. So the moral of this story is, make sure you do your research on what your selling and quote the right price for the item and shipping. Because if you don't, that will be out of your pocket expense not the buyers.
