Cheers Rob I'm playing about with ideas at the moment and trying to work out how far I can push the different techniques in Photshop 4.

Do you have a blank name plate buddy on its own?

"2nd last looks best " if you meant the mapped background- I agree. Add the racetrack and that's a winner?

I see some really great pictures in this forumn, do you use light tents/ boxes to show your figures so well?

Do you have to use specialist light bulbs with them so they look so good, and are they expensive?

Cheers,

Rob (A person sick of shadows)

Shawn and Stu both have lightbox set ups so im sure they will chime in regarding there methods.

A lot of the site pictures especially in the reference section have been editing using advance software like Photoshop CS4 and Paint Pro etc there are a lot of great before and after editing examples in there to view the results that can be achieved.

I got one from Amazon Chaz and it was well worth the money mate. It came with two lights and a tripod.

It folds up really well in a carry case.

I'll try and find the link mate.

Thanks very much for your advice, I've decided to try out a light box, I shall let you know the results.

Funnily enough someone else has started a thread on RS about this after my post.

A quick test ...

Photography Techniques Thread - Page 2 P1_2
Photography Techniques Thread - Page 2 P2_2

The good news is i am impressed, the bad news is 1 bulb only lasted 5 minutes before blowing, these do get hot but ive had lots of these type bulbs blow in the home, theyre just not made like they used to but are cheap enought to buy.

Photo is resized to a smaller dimension for viewing here, no other edits have been done.

Comments please Smile

Haha yeh ill look for a better type bulb i think, the lamps themselves are pretty neat with the pop out feet.

The camera by the way is a Fujifilm 12.2MP Camera, this was in its macro setting.

Slightly on topic topic, but thought I'd throw this one in here. Smile

How do people take pics of their collection? Was playing around this weekend with taking some pics and wasn't 100% happy with different lighting/shadows etc.

Anyone have/build/use a lightbox, or have any other suggestions for taking good close up details pics? Thinking of both loose and carded figures here.
EDIT by James! I've merged topics Smile
