I'm just wondering the float test is supposed to work for weapons and accessories. It works for the weapons but so far all the helmets, hoods, and belts I've tried it on have sank. Are they all repos or does it not work for helmets, hoods, and belts?

The float test works for some weapons and sabers. Some genuine weapons float and some genuine weapons sink, i.e., sabers. Gammorean Guards axes sink along with Yoda cane. I do not believe the float test applies to an Ewok headdress for example.

It is generally only applicable to weapons. It is however not 100% accurate as many of the new repros (and some old) mimic the properties of the original weapons. Therefore it should only be used in conjunction with a number of other tests such as the drop and light test, and as you become more knowledgeable you will be able to visually distinguish them.
As Bababooeyfett said there are also a number of weapons that should sink including The Gamorrean Guard and Teebo axes; the Amanaman and Logray staffs and some but not all of the sabers. The Bespin sabers should sink; the POTF pop up saber should float when placed on the surface and sink when tapped (but the Glasslite variant should float). The single Telescoping sabers are all different - some float, some sink and if you are not sure you should seek the advice of the mods on here (especially AJ).
Good luck. It can be a minefield out there but you’ll soon learn how to navigate it.

Yes the float test alone is not good enough, I have found that some of the pop out saber from Kenner will float and sink. One thing I did find out is the sabers will also glow under black light. I now carry small flashlight that base a black light as well with me for checking.
