Should I display with the capes or without. Clearly being bent and sitting for a long period of time will cause cape issues. Should I take the capes off and display without or leave them on and just say the heck with it? This is an issue with Obi Wan in the landspeeder and Darth in the tie fighter.

It's a personal choice obviously. One one hand, you're risking some damage and candidly you're not seeing most of it anyway. On the other hand, it might drive the OCD in me crazy lol

I'm displaying with the capes right now knowing they will likely fail at some point. Because if I'm doing it I'm doing it full on. But I wanted advice from the experts.

And of course my OCD nature has caused me to buy "extra" capes. So I guess there's that too. Ha

If it were me, I think I would remove the cape. This bend at the waist of the cape is fairly extreme. However I guess technically there is little difference to the cape bending at the waist area and the collar being turned or not. Some flip the collars over, others don't. I personally keep the collar in whatever way it came to me.when I acquired the figure so I am not bending it back in a new direction. On these little pieces of vinyl that seems to be what makes the cape get cracks or holes. The repeated bend on the same line back and forth.

All of that said, inside a vehicle you won't see the cape and to me it isn't worth the risk of damage the cape may undergo if it is left in a bent angle for long periods of time.

I think I'll try this for a bit to see how it works. Thanks

Hey Broke,

I am with Bryan on this one... I have an Obi-Wan in my Landspeeder with no cape for fear of damage.

I used to buy extra capes too, but they went to my younger brother when I gave him a near complete collection of Kenner figures the X-mas that the Force Awakens came out... Since then I have hung on to certain figures whether they are junkers or not without their accessories simply to display them and not risk damage or loss of accessories...

Stand the figure next to the craft rather than in it. You can hardly see Vader inside the TIE so makes no odds.

I'd buy a capeless figure to sit in vehicles, and keep my caped version for display. I also leave collars up or down as I found them to minimise damage.

For myself if I were going to do this I would get repo capes and keep the original ones in good shape.

The only figure with a cape I have in a vehicle is an Obi-Wan sitting next to Luke in his Landspeeder. He was in the seated position for 2-3 years, and I recently took him out for the very reason of checking the cape. I could see where it had been sitting, but there were no real signs of damage. And after a couple minutes, even the lines from sitting were not that noticeable. He's currently stuffed right back in the seat.

This. All of it.

I've got an entire mostly mint, complete, loose set that I display as such with the figures only. However, in the interest of populating my playsets and vehicles, I have been collecting incomplete loose figures. Plus I go for "beater figures" (those that aren't in good condition or incomplete) Most collectors pass these over so they are cheaper and wouldn't get much love anyways.

Doing this keeps my loose set nice but still allows me to populate my playsets and vehicles without breaking the bank. I also think its cool to have obviously loved and played with figures in the playsets where they belong.
