Hi, am New to the forums, I do not know how to post a picture here, but I got a graded loose afa luke jedi lightsaber with a round hiltguard instead of a sharp angled one, sealed in the afa case. I understand from imperial gunnery that this is a sure sign of repro. Could it be genuine? Or is it an oversight by afa?

I did manage to find a rounded hilt blue lightsaber on the website of power of the toys, tsukada packaging

This is another image of a blue luke jedi going on eBay, image is not clear but you can see it's a rounded hilt

If you go to the ebay link and use the zoom function I can clearly see the three buttons are flat and the hilt does not look rounded. Now check your graded loose example and I am sure you will see your buttons are domed???



I have sent Shawn a message- hoping he will confirm his example is as I expect flat hilt with taper not a 'donut'. Remembering that Tsukuda is just a sticker on a HN Hong Kong MOC. ( which can be confirmed by looking at the punch/hang tab)

He will try and send through a close up picture of his saber to show that his pictures you have used are just deceptively showing a round hilt.

I have already contacted afa regarding this, sent them two emails, no reply. Anything I can do?

when opening the pics after I saved them I zoomed in a bit further but I can see the slant on both to the hilt versus the rounded edge of the reproduction.  I tried to show a line in red showing the blue taper under the hilt to the handle on the pics.





For whatever reason after making the red line and saving them they resized to the original so maybe I have to resave them or something. I will try to get closer zooms though like I said things get very fuzzy up close in the pics.

I bit closer and though it is blurry you can see the blue outline of the saber is tapered vs the flat way the donut would look.

Just have to wait for them to reply.  If you bought the item like that- they will offer no help as far as finding a replacement saber.

Edit, got new pictures from Shawn so there is no doubt his Tsukuda MOC contains a real saber

Isn't this how the sabre should look like? With the angled hiltguard and NOT the donut shaped one? Now you are saying that I do not order the angle shaped one?!!

I have purchased another blue sabre, didn't want to crack open the afa case, so I just taped the real sabre onto the case.
