Hi folks.
I recently purchased the first series on Blu-ray & it made me want to dig out my Terrahawks toys from the loft:
Jigsaw:
The Figures (these are the same scale as Star Wars):
The range is a bit disappointing, only 8 in total (3 female characters, which is unusual for the time), we got all of the Heroes but only the main villainess Zelda:
Every week Zelda would send one of her hideous creatures to confront the Terrahawks team. Most of the alien designs were really scary looking and, if produced to modern day standards of detail, would make awesome action figures.
Hudson (the computer controlled Rolls Royce who could change colour) is the weakest of the range being a simple toy with a pull back action motor. A shame it's not a proper diecast toy or moulded from colour changing plastic:
My real favourites are these "Action Models" of the Terrahawks fleet, which all feature moving parts & spring operated gimmicks :
These are all pretty fragile toys but the detailing is superb,
Battlehawk:
Terrahawk:
(I just don't have the heart to remove the rockets from off their plastic sprue)
Treehawk:
Sgt Major Zero:
The Zeroids were the spherical robotic foot soldiers of Terrahawks organization (often used as comic relief they all had different voices, personalities & other human like character traits) this toy has a clockwork motor.. after winding him up you can then press the button on his perch to send him rolling across the floor
Hawkwing:
This one has to be my pick of the bunch simply because, as a young lad, I had so much playtime fun with this toy and it's missile launcher... plus it got the best launch sequence of the show:
I gotta say that the Blu-ray's good. As the series was originally shot in 16mm film, even with the restoration work, picture quality isn't fantastic but I'd forgotten how great the music was and the remix sounds awesome on modern sound equipment:
Cheers & Thanks for looking, T'shot

Cool pics, and nice you have some surviving Terrahawks stuff. Loved the show back in the day and recently watched some episodes which I enjoyed - Zelda was a good villain and well imagined. And the actor Windsor Davis making the voice for Sgt Maj Zero was a winner too. I didn't know about the action models range - they look really cool. I made a short blogpost about Terrahawks a while back Here with the following advert for the figures:
and a feature from Eagle comics about the show's arrival:

Very neat looking toy line. I never saw this show as a kid and still haven't so don't know much about it. I think we may have discussed this show before, is this the one where all the parts are puppets? That may have been another show, I cant recall.

Bryan, you might be thinking of Thunderbirds which was a show Gerry Anderson created alongside his wife Sylvia before Terrahawks which was created with Christopher Burr. Both used sets with puppets working on combinations of strings and rods.

T'shot - do you remember Star Fleet? I was watching a programme last night about this, yet another show that used puppets that aired on UK TV around the same time as Terrahawks. Star Fleet was originally a Japanese production (called X-Bomber) with the puppets more in a Manga style and mostly operated by rods. The Japanese creator was interviewed and said how much he had been inspired by Gerry Anderson (and also StarWars) and how popular Thunderbirds was in Japan.

Hi Artoo
Star Fleet just happens one of my all time favourite television shows
I'm lucky enough to own a couple of vintage Japanese toys alongside a jigsaw puzzle produced by a U.K. company back in the day:
I went through a bit of a spending spree when I first discovered international ebay, trying to find Star Fleet and other toys based upon fondly remembered childhood cartoons..
Ulysses 31 & Jayce & The Wheeled Warriors were other must haves:
Not that I've gone & got the entire sets for each range, or anything like that, I'm just a picking up examples to represent each of series I loved.

The puppets are going to give me nightmares, but aside from that, I really like the concept and look of the toys!
The way you described the main villain sending different creatures/ monsters to fight the team every episode is reminiscent of how Power Rangers is set up.
I kind of get a little Transformers vibe from this, too (must be the vehicles and their colors -- red, blue).
Nice stuff!

Thanks
Yeah I did make it sound like Power Rangers.. and it kind of was in a way.
No giant robots, oversized monsters or teenage Kung-Fu antics involved, most early storylines in the first series revolved around Zelda trying to find and destroy the Terrahawks hidden base. Later episodes developed more of a sense of humour, introduced some bizarre characters & plots. I must say that Zelda & her family were fully rounded characters who're voiced by fantastic voice talent... you could even sympathised with some of the monsters as often they had emotional depth & personal motivations for their actions.
Artoo there's a connection between Terrahawks & Star Fleet, actress Denise Bryer performed the voices for both Zelda & Commander Makara

Those Star Fleet toys are well cool. Love the box art for them too. Cool connection between Terrahawks and Star Fleet with Denise Bryer.
