G'day everyone. This is my first post here, and in fear of being blasted like I was on another forum, I simply ask what do members know about this figure? Where is it from? Are there any other distinguishing features other then the "Taiwan" coo stamp? (not to be confused with "Made in Taiwan coo). I look forward to your replies and thanks in advance!

IMO it is not specific to Australia but more prevalent here. When I first joined RS (over a year ago)a few variant collectors PM'd me to look out for them. I posted over on the Vaders variant thread Jan 5 that I was needing one. Jay wants one too so sell us your spare 2

I'm not an expert, but pretty sure the "Taiwan" Vader was released by Toltoys here in Aus (and maybe elsewhere too?). I have one, but I don't have a "Made in Taiwan" to compare it to, so am not sure of any visibly noticible differences to the figure itself...although someone here should be able to post pics/description for you...

Its one of the rarest figures in total!

I bought mine from Australia and I believe in its Tolstoys origin.

I nonly saw three different in my collecting life...only one was complete!! All three were purchased from australia!

Thanks for the welcome and input guys.

For those that have not seen them yet, here are my Vader photos and a carded TT figure that confirms it was made in Taiwan. However this only proves that Toltoys actually released Vaders made in Taiwan. We still don't know whether it was "Made in Taiwan" or "Taiwan" coo, but it adds some weight to the theory.

Also here is a list of the coo of the loose Vaders I uncovered at a deceased estate:
21x "Hong Kong"
1x "Made in Hong Kong"
1x raised bar (China)
3x "Taiwan"
3x "Made in Taiwan"













I will post some more detailed photos of the chest and heads of the "Taiwan" coo Vaders when I get home from work. Maybe we can find a common feature?

The leather textured & cape cut variation that Bill McBride mentions is interesting. The angled cut does not seem present in the carded or loose figures anyone else has?

flat out with new puppy at the moment, but will try to take pis and report on detail of mine at some point in the next couple of days...

Ok - I didn't take photos of the COO as there are lots of those floating around (and I forgot ) But here we have comparison pics with a "Hong Kong" Vader...

Taiwan is on the right - main differences are "Ballpoints" on the bottom of the mask; different chestplate (mold & paint); different belt (mold); differetn belt buckle (mold & paint)

Different material for cape - Taiwan much more textured

Not sure if this is common to all Taiwan Vaders, but mint has a 'Broken big toe' - the lump under the left foot

My "Taiwan" Vader (from Australia) has a slightly deformed foot too Marco - not quite as bad as your Vader's though:

The whole "Taiwan" figure is pretty crappy moulding-wise to be honest - not one for grading

it's the second thing I checked (after making sure it said 'Taiwan' not 'made in Taiwan')
But the right foot is melted/damaged/very play worn & the left foot is slightly damaged as well so it's difficult to tell
Perhaps in another 3 years I might find a nice complete one.

I'll check mine when i get a chance. Don't remember seeing any deformity tho.
