Lots of new guys on today so I am going to link in some of the previous battles so they can see kind of how we do this.

http://www.imperialgunneryforum.com/t8214p25-battle-of-the-month-young-obi-wan-vs

These are just fun scenarios that Matt thinks up to give us something to ponder. Just another fun thing we have around here. Feel free to jump in with how you think the battle would go. No wrong answers (unless you kill off the ewoks. lol! )

Ewoks and Wookies will take it to the win. As a former soldier I know in a wooded area tech is not always a good thing vehicles can't maneuver all that well as the trees and such can trip it up or get it stuck weapons can get really dirty and not function right, comm systems can break down, etc. Not to mention camo ability for the Ewoks and Wookies will out do the Imperial's as the white armor stands out in the forest not to mention the limited visibility and the uselessness of the so-called protective armor. On top of that both of the furry ones are used to living and surviving in the woods, ground troops are not yes they can have training, but that will only get you so far. The Bounty Hunters would fair better than the Imperials as they are not regimented and have potentially more skills, but at the same time they may not all see eye to eye look at what happened between Boba Fett and IG-88 he was found in a scrap pile on cloud city.

@trappedtexan -- Good idea.. there are a lot of possibilities in which this battle can go! One of the reasons why I love coming up with the scenarios is to let everyone be creative!

Larry, love the military aspect of your answer. It does make sense that the vehicles would have maneuvering problems and the Bounty Hunters are in unfamiliar territory. You hit the nail on the head with the whole "they might not see eye to eye" thing. But what if they did? Wouldn't that be a scary thought?

I know from the CW that Bossk and his family used to hunt and scalp Wookies, so imagine how that would end up.. and what about Boba Fett's flamethrower? Burning trees..burning trees everywhere!

That's a good point as it was only a few that didn't get along most had worked together before. As for Boba's and the Imperial Troops using Flame Throwers that could work to their advantage but also cause the problems. If they started burning the trees, etc they could spark a forest fire, then they would have to deal with all the other animals in the forest who are trying to escape the inferno as well was fight the E&W's (Ewoks and Wookies).

One good way to figure out what would happen is look at wars and battles throughout history most were fought by one side being more technological advance then the other side, yet with all the modern weapons and equipment as well as training and other advantages they lost, A few prime examples would be
-The Battle of Stirling Bridge in 1297 where English Earl John de Warenne's well-equipped army were trapped on a narrow bridge by William Wallace.
-Napoleon's Invasion of Russia in the summer and winter of 1812 where Napoleon lost almost all of his troops; it was the turning point of the Napoleonic wars.
-Battle of Isandlwana. The Zulu's armed mostly with spears destroyed two British battalions armed with rifles.
-The Vietnam War where France, Australia, the United States and a few others were all defeted.

I think many strategic elements will come into play. It is seen in history that gorilla warfare tactics many times out last technologically advanced regiments. Lots of movies based on this very concept as well. Having said that I am not sure which way I am going to take this yet. Larry is right that a fire could be a part of it, but generally animals flee the fire not run into it, so as long as a backburn is avoided there shouldn't be any contention from the bounty hunters on that, however creating a fire also distances the ability of the hunters to even get close enough for hand to hand combat and makes no guarantee of actually killing off the enemies they are trying to go for so I don't see that as a very good tactic but more a last resort.

I'm waiting for @Artoo_Detour to swoop in and come up with a scenario that drives the Ewoks into extinction and Bryan into a rage. lol!

In the mighty forests of Endor there can be only one winner!

It's a long and bloody battle.

The Wookiewoks ( Very Happy ) have the advantage over the B-Hunters becuse they know the terrain and climate, they can survive for days on end just on worms and grubs and raindrops from leaves - whereas the B-Hunters will soon run out of rations and resort to cannibalism!

Battle of the Month - Lions, tigers, Ewoks, oh my! 20101310

Some B-Hunters become so desperate they turn to alcohol...

But nobody likes a drunk bounty hunter do they !!

Battle of the Month - Lions, tigers, Ewoks, oh my! 2014-010

Then....

BOOM!!

The Wookiewoks boobytrap all the vehicles that are lying around - ensuring some of those industrious B-Hunters will be counting all their fingers and toes later on!

Seems like the furry ones are winning here  thinking

As night falls on Endor, the Wookiewoks are able to survive the freezing temperatures because of all that fur!

However, one negative side-effect is the Wookiewoks' raging hormones and friskiness... because everyone knows that Wookies and Ewoks cannot resist a bit of jungle rumpy pumpy once the last flames of the camp fire have died down at night!

Just look at some of the results of their interbreeding over the years...

These late night furball romps give the B-Hunters an advantage and they soon lay slaughter to the Wookiewoks!

Take that!!

Run bears, run!

The Wookiewoks regroup and bring out their secret weapon... Wookie folk music...

Ha! take that B-Hunters!

Battle of the Month - Lions, tigers, Ewoks, oh my! Chewba11

But the Wookie axe-meister soon loses the plot when the B-Hunters start booing and heckling! Wookie folk singers take their art very seriously!

The mad musical Wookie is quickly overpowered, tortured, killed and turned into bespoke footwear...

Battle of the Month - Lions, tigers, Ewoks, oh my! 3d44b512

Well done the B-Hunters! Only a couple of furballs left now... in fact they are down to their last... one brave Ewok ... one fearless furball that has the power to stop the B-Hunters...

O mighty Ewok... can you save Endor?

Brave Ewok... can you?

No........

Dawn breaks. The sunlight begins to peak through the leaves as the sound of wood splintering is heard in the distance. The wookies and ewoks have been awaiting this moment. They had been alerted by the stench of oil and the static of electronics the previous night. They gathered their forces and met in the darkness to devise a strategy.

The bounty hunters have been told to clear the ewoks and wookies out of the forest. The empire made it clear they desire this done swiftly and they do not care how much life is lost to accomplish this feat.

The bounty hunters do not march in formation nor are they spread out as sporadically as the biker scouts and stormtroopers that the ewoks had encountered before. As the hunters close in the natural inhabitants ready themselves. Both sides realize this is going to be a long day.

An atst emerges through the tree line and the ewoks recognize this vehicle. They had laid various loose logs around the jungle floor during the night. As the atst comes to a halt the ewoks recognize that this time the vehicle won't be tripped and toppled as easily as during previous battle.

The atst comes to a stop and remains still. Scanners inside the vehicle show life forms all over the place. The hunter inside radioing in that he has found the encampment of the enemy does not hear the lone attacker who dropped out of the tree. A wookie, crouching now as he landed on the roof of the vehicle lays in wait for the hatch to unlock. Nervousness sets in. Just as the wookie is about to try to force the hatch a blast rings out. The wookie is struck down off the roof by a hunter who is skimming the tree tops using a jet pack. As the wookie falls the ewoks and other wookies realize a full on frontal assault is the only way. The hardest way.

More hunters begin to emerge from the forest bushes and as they come into sight spears and arrows fly in their direction. Full out onslaught ensues. The bounty hunters are outnumbered but they are being attacked by primitive weapons. They take some casualties, but mostly just small injuries. Many of the ewoks and wookies are killed in the frontal assault, but they manage to drive the hunters back. Numbers dwindle on both sides. There is no use for the hunters to scavenge the dead primitives, but it doesn't take long for the wookies and ewoks to begin to increase their weaponry using the fallen bounty hunters weaponry. They are not as skilled as the bounty hunters, but determination takes the place of skill as they begin to quickly hone their use of the new weaponry.

As dusk approaches the bounty hunters realize they can not take this skirmish this night. They will need to retreat and regroup. A new plan is needed. They believed that they could use technology to overtake the rouges they were sent after. They underestimated their enemies. The ewoks move stealthily in the night. Some of the more honed bounty hunters know they may be attacked during the night, while others; the newer, younger hunters naively set up camps along the ground. They believe that taking turns watching will suffice. They are wrong. During the night stacks occur sporadically. No pattern to it. The hunters hear a scream and another hunter is dead. By dawn the next morning few remain. As the more elite hunters look out from their perches in the trees they realize how lucky they were. Some of the hunters even in the trees have been taken. The few hunters that remain use their blasters on anything that moves. Skill is replaced by skittishness. Hunters shooting tree limbs blowing in the wind. The ewoks and wookies simply sit back in cover and watch. Soon the hunters will become the hunted.

By mid day, not a single attack. The hunters have depleted their supplies as they did not think this would last for multiple days. They packed light and what little food they did bring, they did not recover from their fallen brethren. It won't be long now. The wookies and ewoks who still stand begin to circle and flank the once great hunters. As the bounty hunters know where they came from and believe they can not be flanked they do not suspect the strategy that is occurring. An arrow flys out of the woods. This is the first sign of attack and it is from the front. The hunters believe they need to hold the enemy on this frontal assault. They do not even suspect the attack that is coming. A spear flies out of the woods and strikes a hunter in the back. Now the realization sets in. They are surrounded.

As dusk closes in on this night and a light rain begins to fall, the last of the hunters is dispatched. The ewoks and wookies have won the battle. They are smart enough to know that this probably won't be the last time they face off against the empire. They are good scavengers. The weapons and supplies they manage to aquire will give them an unknown edge in the battles to come. Many have lost their lives, but this day the life on endor is changed. They have modern weaponry and a new found savagery that will last with them in future encounters.

Wow Bryan  what a great read....this is an intense story, everything is described so well.

I had to think about this but in the end i kept coming up with the same outcome- the bountys win.

I will try to explain my scenario please bear with me Very Happy

Ok- so there are 40 wookies/ewoks and 20 bounties, in my mind being the bounties are professional killers and headhunters, they are experts in killing from distances and not being seen no matter what the terrain, so after day 1 i would say the bounties would have minor injuries if any and would have wiped out at least half of our furry friends. Day 2- the bounty hunters would be even more focused and as professionals still be focusing on getting there rewards. As for the wookies/ ewoks they would be grieving there dead, bemused about what has happened. While they gather there thoughts and think about getting the injured to safety the bounties would strike again leaving nothing but death in there wake........

Battle of the Month - Lions, tigers, Ewoks, oh my! 110

We are here to claim our bounty lol!

Bryan -- @trappedtexan

That was totally worth the wait! lol! I read the entire story in a rugged, veteran Texan accent! Hahaha.. made it so much better!

Well thought out and you even set up a future in which Endor has changed forever with the help of leftover technology.. sweet!

Teaming up the Ewoks and Wookies to form one "mega tribe" is very dangerous and I thought the story was going to get even darker..

You were a few sentences away from thinking it would end up like this:

Battle of the Month - Lions, tigers, Ewoks, oh my! Ewok3210

Or possible technology corruption that turned into this!

Battle of the Month - Lions, tigers, Ewoks, oh my! 2d1e9010

I forgot their name.. but I'm pretty sure there was an Ewok leader that was cybernetic. Or at least had cybernetic parts. I thought that was pretty cool!

@Lobotic

You bring up a great point about the Ewoks and Wookies grieving over their dead comrades. I don't think the Bounty Hunters have a care in the world for eachother and just want to get the job done for that king's ransom!

-- Really love these answers guys. Thanks so much for participating in this month's battle! Laughing

I tried. I was planning on writing a lot and spreading this out, but truthfully kind of forgot about this. I saw it last night and typed my response out as I was thinking it up. I would have gone a tad darker with the savageness, but figured I better keep it family friendly to not offend.
