| Joe, the ice has been broken. I ordered my first ever starting lineup Nolan Ryan figure today. I checked the various sculpts out a bit and decided I had to have the retirement figure holding the hat up. I ordered it on the card mainly because there wasn't a loose one, but also because I noticed most of the loose ones on eBay don't include the card or coin or poster or whatever other pack in there is. Are pretty much all the cards the same size so there is some sort of generic case (star case type or acrylic) that will fit them? |

| Awesome! That's one of my favorite figures! All cardbacks are the same size. Doesn't matter what year they are from. The slu2 from 2001 may be a different size. But they did make cases for these at one time, just like how they make star cases today. But they are no longer in production. But you can find them on eBay from time to time. People do make acrylic for them as well or you can buy cases from afa. I am so excited you got your first slu! You are going to love them! I hope others get the bug as well.
The YouTube video has over 2,000 hits! So I am hoping others get just as excited. Keep us posted! |

Next week we're going to see Bryan on an NFL SLU Part Two talking about his world's biggest Nolan Ryan collection. Joe, what have you done?! |

| Joe quick question, I am mainly seeing the figures on a card and they all fit one type of case, but the stadium one where he is standing on a stadium the package looks square and larger. Do they make a case for that one? I will take a pic once the others arrive. Made fast headway on this lot. Got several coming now. Should have them within a week or so. Also where is the best place for cases for these? I have never collected moc before, but these are all moc so far. I found the earth toy mall has the soft star case type, but I would like to know other options if you know more. |

| Bryan, The stadium stars are larger. Not sure if cases were ever made for them. If anything, maybe acrylic. The softer ones for regular figures are getting harder and harder to find. Protech used to make them. But stopped some time ago. If theearth has them, grab them. I am going to check them out as well! Can't wait to see your scores. |

| For sure more to come. I went the "cheap ass" route and so they have bubbles starting to turn a bit yellow, or like the stadium one has a bend in the plastic. They are good enough for me though. So far only one issue with an eBay seller shipping one of them in an envelope. Of course it has bubble crush and card bend now. But I won it for like $3 so I can't complain much I guess. |

| That sucks. I had that happen to me last month. I bough a beer favre rookie. Came destroyed in a bubble mailer. Thankfully for me I only bought it to open anyway. But seems to be an issue with Slus and eBay. Such a shame! |

I am pretty happy with it so far. They are lesser condition but that's fine to me. Just something fun to break up the "normal" action figure stuff. |

| Joe, since I don't have any open ones of these, I am wondering how easy they are to remove arms from and torsos? I have a favorite picture of Nolan Ryan, and am wondering if it possible to customize one into it using various pieces. I was thinking the retirement figure legs, a white jersey torso, and haven't seen any arms yet that would match. The retirement figures head with a sculpey cowboy hat or if I can find a cowboy hat from a gi joe line or something? Do the torsos separate easy or is this something to complicated to even consider? |

| I have never took apart a slu. And any custom I ever had done was only painted. I am not sure it would be the easiest thing to do. Once they were to be taken apart, I don't know how easy it would be to put back together. Wish I could be of more assistance with this, but I really don't know. |

| Do you know how the various pieces are connected? I used paint to make a quick sloppy drawing of what I am talking about (make fun of it if you want) This is how star wars were made. On the arms the arm has a wide post that fits into the torso and this is how all of them were made (for the most part) the heads though in the earlier figures were one piece with neck and post for the post to go into the torso like the arms and legs, but on later figures the torso has the post on it and the head has a hole in it to go over the neck post. I figured since you have some prototypes that maybe they were separated to see how these are made. The torsos on star wars figures are front and back pieces with a large post in the center of the front to fit the hole in the back. If starting lineups are similar then once you get one torso open the arms should be interchangeable. The legs on them all are static so that may be a different problem or it might be a post similar to the way the arms and legs of star wars are where the entire waist is a post. Hope this makes sense. I haven't studies these much yet and don't have any open, but have been thinking on this project for a bit this week. I think it may be possible, but it all depends on how well the torsos were put together and sonic welded (assuming that they were sonic welded like star wars). |

| I really don't know. Prototypes are held together by pegs. Come apart easily. I have never even attempted to take apart a slu. I would imagine a slu is very similar to Star Wars. I wish I could help more. Maybe buy a junker and break it open and see what goes on. I know heads can be boiled and popped. But that's the extent of what I know. |
