| I picked this figure up the other day and his hair is pumpkin colored. I haven't found much out there about the orange hair Luke variant and much of what I have found is kind of conflicting. Any how I was wondering if any of you have any idea. Is this "orange hair" or something else? The photos don't quite show how pumpkin colored it looks in reality, so I put a dark brown haired hong kong, and the light brown haired no COO for comparison. Cheers! |

| Thanks for looking and sharing, guys. I actually have a light brown hair Luke as well, but his hair is a bit closer in shade to the palitoy. I've noticed with degradation that brown usually goes greener (or vice/versa in the poop-head yoda's case), or the paint colors fade, but this is noticeably more ginger. Of course what I don't know about paint degradation could fill the grand canyon, so I don't know. Either way, it clearly not as bright orange as the carded example. Thanks again for the input. |

| It's hard to confirm, but it looks more like the red/brown hair variant. Still difficult to find but nowhere near as hard to find as a true Orange hair.... Sorry if my naming is off... red/brown....... orange/brown....... ochre.......... burnt sienna.............. |

| I have been told there are two colors for the Orange. This being due to one that was released in America and another from Australia. I know when I have been looking for one I asked Oli since he used to own one so you may try that. Username olisuds. Also look in the limelight section to see who else may have one and ask them. I can't remember but one of the two was more pumpkin colored. I think from what I have seen your would possibly be that one? |

| Thanks for the photo, psybertech. That one actually looks pretty close to mine. It's the first time I've heard of that particular variation, but there's a million variations out there and when you through in degradation it gets even crazier.
Trappedtexan, I've read about the two variations of the orange variants too, but I haven't had too much luck finding anything that would make me completely confident that I can identify mine. I'll definitely look into the limelight section and olisuds. Thanks for sharing the knowledge! |

I believe it is in-between the the light brown/olive and dark brown hair variants (or vice-versa) and very short lived in production and most likely (don't hold me to this) a Palitoy variant. Wolff has a fantastic overview of Luke's hair colors but I can't find a working link right now to his hair color circle pic but here is the last pic (far left is what I think we are talking about) Wolff's info And here is my small contribution: FOTW TIG link cheers! |

| Thanks for the links! That's a lot of variants. The COO on mine looks like the hong kong 41 back or the red/brown pic you posted. It might be a little lighter, but I'm sure there's subtle variations from figure to figure, plus the role lighting plays. Cheers for all the help! |

There's some amazing stuff in that thread. Looking at the circle I'd say it's closer to the first orange than to the light brown. Maybe it's somewhere in between. Thanks for the link! |

| It's hard to tell for sure from the picture but the orange hair Luke Farmboys usually look a lot lighter. The one you have photographed does look a little like the light orangey brown hair variant. There are so many variations of the brown colour but the orange hair variants usually stick out a mile when you see them in person. The "US" version tends to be a very bright orange whilst the "Australian" version has a duller or more matte finish to it. If you are seeing a hint of brown when looking at the figure then it's more likely a brown hair Luke variant. I've always considered the bright orange "US" variant to the true Orange hair Luke anyway. I had a couple of the "US" orange hair variants. There's a pic of the Australian version on rebelscum Also does it have the rough molded patch on the back right side of the head? |

| Olisuds, thank you for the info. I've heard you're the person to ask. It's more of a pumpkin orange, and does have slight brownish tint, and isn't as Crayola bright as the ones in your pictures. It does have the rough moulding on the side of the head as well. Cheers! |

| I'm far from an expert. I had 2 orange hair Luke farmboy's but both were the US version. Wolff would probably be a better judge as he owned both Orange hair variants. It really is hard to tell from photos but in person if you're seeing any sign of brown I doubt it's an orange hair Luke farmboy. Certainly not what I would call the true "US" orange hair Luke. |

I definitely appreciate you sharing your knowledge anyway. It's been really helpful having this as a resource, because going by photos alone, it could go either way. My photos don't really do the hue justice, but they do show the difference from one figure to the other. If I were going by the photos from rebel scum (below) I would have said that yes mine is orange, but looking at the photos others have shared I'd learn more to an orange/brown combination. Definitely more orange than brown, but not as bright as some of the others. In any case, it's the first time I've ever had this particular color and I've owned my share of Lukes. Cool either way. Thanks again! |
