RC Cars, Trucks, Buggies, Crawlers Empty
PostSubject: RC Cars, Trucks, Buggies, Crawlers   RC Cars, Trucks, Buggies, Crawlers I_icon_minitimeWed Apr 23, 2014 9:01 pm

Now that the weather is getting better, I'm just curious if anyone is into RC land vehicles (cars, trucks, buggies, crawlers, etc).

I won't go in much detail of what I am/have been into to save time unless anyone else is currently.

My current active vehicles are:
1/18 Traxxas eRevo - well, it was an eRevo but I don't think there are many stock bits left - replaced pretty much everything
1/10 Losi Comp crawler - picked it up used but it is basically not a comp crawler anymore - not even sure whats there other to say its freakin awesome!!!!!!!

And I still have, but don't run, a couple of nitro 1/10 Traxxas trucks and a Jato

So, if you are active in any RC land stuff, post up!

cheers!
Very Happy

Hi there,

I've got 5 Tamiya's , 2 'shelf queens' & 3 runners, mostly all vintage or classic re-release kits including a couple of Thunder-Shot's (naturally Wink )& this (re-re) Hornet:

I've been in and out and in and out since I was 12.

@Larry : I would love to get into some serious helicopter or aircraft but I wouldn't do that without another local friend into it since I know nothing about those types of kits and wouldn't have a clue where I could fly them safely and legally around here.

@thundershot - so wait, is that where your name came from? Rolling Eyes

@Andy - nice Frog! haha... You still have it? I wish I had my childhood kits.

My first RC was also a Tamiya, but it was the Grasshoper if I recall.
My first real RC that I got involved with modifying was an RC10. Loved that thing!

I was back in for about two years recently but didn't touch it at all last year so I started thinking about where I live and how to optimize my run and involvement time knowing I would need something different.
My driveway and part of my street isn't paved and I live next to a river so I have a ton of small hills and inclines, a ton of natural rocks and my backyard consists of man-made rock walls all over so I decided for something new and hence my recent Losi Comp Crawler (OK, it so far from that now, but it started life as one). The crawlers are unlike any other RC vehicle I have ever owned.

It isn't fast at all. It is all about torque and the ability to try to overcome anything in its way and slow speeds. I have only had it two days but it is awesome and really does lend itself to my surroundings. I think that is key to the longevity of playing with it since I don't have to travel to find the ideal, safe areas. I can just sit at my picnic table and tool around my walls and surroundings.

A few pics from my first day with my crawler - gives you a little look of part of my backyard.

Yeah, the yard is a mess after the winter, but we'll start tidying up soon.
This is it when things are in bloom.......

I am a tinkerer so I am so happy to have something like this to play with and offset my behind the computer time.

Anyway...................

Anyone else actively playing with running RCs?

cheers

I used to own one of these, and I managed to sell it without donating it into the families vw beetle collection!

I've never had a RC anything. But have always thought they were cool as hell. About every six months or so I get looking at RC tanks. One of these days I should just pull the trigger and buy one.
