Meccano Square Card Boba Fett Empty
PostSubject: Meccano Square Card Boba Fett   Meccano Square Card Boba Fett I_icon_minitimeWed Jan 29, 2014 1:43 pm

Okay guys,

it seems I HAVE to post this because I got several pms and emails about this issue over weeks now!

First of all: I respect Stephane to the limit. He is a very well knowledgable guy if it comes to European cards especially Trilogo and Meccano.

If niche MOC collectors start to label loose variants it is getting dangerous IMO! Nothing personal Stephane...I know you ment no harm, but people will try to make a profit on this (not you of course) and I have to sort things out a bit on those to prevent people falling for sth wrongly labeled IMO.

I got this screenshot probably from facebook and I am not on facebook so I have to react here:

Meccano Square Card Boba Fett Captur10

The dark belt and visor HK Fett was released on several US cards and baggies as well!

THERE IS NO SPECIAL MECCANO VARIANT EVER PRODUCED IN FRANCE!!!!! Thats why there is no unique figures to square cards!!

Meccano never produced figures on their own! There is no special Jawa nor blaster nor Fett nor anything that was only released on Meccano cardbacks! This is an irrevocable fact!

The only "special" and unique figures that seemed to be only released in France is the "Macao" Biker (Mec ROTJ 65-back with Macao sticker) and the ones that appeared on French Trilogos like Luke, DSD, RS, Leia Hoth and others.(which many of those Stephane helped to confirm)

I only post this because I already see the FS threads coming: Meccano square card Boba Fett *rare* 250USD!!!

Be aware and buy yourself sth. that is really rare and labeled correctly!

Best

Wolff

Hi. I take the opportunity of this thread to clarify a few things about this "Meccano Boba Fett".

Title of "Meccano Boba Fett" given to this particular figure variant "bothers" me a bit ; of course it seems to be exclusive to France, but it's the figure which was packaged on first batches of Trilogo cards (Trilogo with Palitoy style bubble), not Meccanos.

Here's a quick list of French Boba Fett figures as sold in France:

- ESB Meccano square card : the figure is a hong-kong coo, but the paint job is slightly different than regular HK figures, especially the helmet has black painting, not brown ; and the limbs tends to discolorate with time.

- ROTJ Meccano card : the figure is same as some Palitoy ROTJ cards, the figure has a blue/greyish body, regular painted knee and helmet.

- TRILOGO card with small/palitoy-like bubble : the figure is the one you refer as the "meccano boba fett" which has a scar instead of the coo (but different as the Lili Ledy).

- TRILOGO card with large etched/rounded edges : the figure is the lightgrey body, with either painted or unpainted knee.

hope that helps

some mythinformation has been around for a long time. As with a lot of 'ideas' it's always best to cross reference & make up your own mind.   I 100% agree there is so many mislabelled items- I have been guilty in the past  Embarassed

thank's both of you for your lights.  Laughing

so in a way you agree with stephane about this boba fett, except it cannot be called "meccano boba" because it is not exclusive to meccano scare card, am I right?

AJ is quoting someone but the quote function hasn't worked. Now AJ is been mis-quoted in a thread about mis-infirmation  Very Happy  I believe that's irony  Razz

Yes I was quoting Stephane.  (who has contributed a lot to this hobby & I don't want to be misunderstood as being negative towards him in anyway )
My point was these ideas are not new, they are an observation of an experienced individual and are likely to be accurate.  BUT should be expanded to include that these loose figures are NOT exclusive to any particular cardback/packaging and hence shouldn't necessarily attract high prices due to perceived rarity.

edit: as collectors we are almost guardians of this hobby & need to be careful of what remains on the 'web' as 'fact'

Hi guys : )
Wasn't he referring to the square card back and figure with darker face paint.
Here's a limelight link Stephan posted showing the square card...

yes mate. And the point is the " darker face paint, limbs fade etc. " is not necessarily exclusive to square, round, circle anything card  Wink

Ah, got ya. Maybe he (Stephan) should have just stated square card then and left the figure out of it : )
Sorry for not truly understanding at first. I get what Wolff is saying now : )
I do remember asking Wolff about the dark visor Fett awhile ago. His response about it being released elsewhere was stated then also. I found mine in France....
Again, sorry for misunderstanding....

I am just saying that this figure variant is not exclusive to France. Wrong labeling is dangerous Steve....you know that buddy! Wink

Here is a 41D with this figure. Picture originally came from the "Lando's locker"

This just ONE example of many existing ones out there Wink

Hi Wolff : ) Hope the baby is good buddy : )
Did you happen to run this information by Stephane? It may help him also.
Thanks for the update, with pics : ) You are 100% correct, wrong labeling is dangerous. Mostly because it can inspire the rest of the community to unintentionally do the same. Appreciate you trying to make it correct : )

I btw edited the first post...it sounded rude which wasn't my intend! I always try to be clear and straight forward on such issues which make me sound attacking/arrogant and so on!

I am sorry...I can read it today with more sleep last night! My only intend was to prevent people beeing cheated and loosing money!

I hope Stephane does understand! No harm was intended...

Please let me know how it sounds now??

I really do my best....

SORRRRRRYYYY!!
