EV-9D9's Sibling

I just read about a black EV-9D9 like Droid - called AV-6R7, which appeared briefly on the bridge of the Executor in Return of the Jedi (during the Shuttle Tyderium shield passage scene).
I had never heard about this droid before. Quite cool!  Very Happy

AV-6R7 even has his/her(?) own entry on Wookieepedia, providing some more info:

The droid was deprived of arms for failing to keep track of a power droid, but appears to have been given replacement ones. AV-6R7 was working on the bridge of the Executor when Controller Jhoff deactivated the deflector shields prior to the Battle of Endor in 4 ABY in order to let shuttle Tydirium land on the moon. Later on the droid was still on the bridge during the early stages of the Battle of Endor when Commander Merrejk reported to Admiral Firmus Piett that the warship was in attack position, to which Piett responded to hold the attack and that Emperor Palpatine had a plan in place to deal with the Alliance Fleet, and the Executor only had to prevent them from escaping.

"Deprived of arms for failing to keep track of a Power Droid....."...... maybe that explains  why her relative EV-9D didn't go along with Gonk Droids so much?

Someone even made a custom AV-6R7 figure. Personally, I could not set myself to paint a vintage EV-9D9 figure black, even it is a beater figure.
Luckily customizers can also use a POTF2 version which is cast from the same mould as the vintage figure (just different paint apps and lacking the posable mouth feature)

Custom vintage AV-6R7.

I learned something new today. Hope you liked it too.

Cheers

That's the great thing about this hobby. Even after 30 years, there is still plenty to discover / learn!

Good work, Marco. That's news to me too. I love how the films went to great detail to include all these background characters that maybe only ever appeared on screen for a second or two, but added to the overall dynamic.
