| I know Wolff's guide isn't 100% complete, but there are loads of "HONG KONG" coo's but this one is "MADE IN HONG KONG". So is it rare or just missing from the COO guide? The feet are different sizes, and he was brought from a car boot sale by my mum along with a headless boba fett !! Does anyone else have one? |

| Nice COO variant, Stef. You don't see him too often. I remember he was discussed before. Does yours also have a very shiny appearance? - Josh_T wrote:

Most Vaders I have seen are just Hong Kong, but I have never seen one with Made in Hong Kong until I found this one. The most noticable difference between this and a regular HK COO is the figures left foot has a slightly square edge that protrudes from the bottom of the boot.

| Not new Stef just not in Wolff's guide. This one evaded me for ages as i wasn't actively seeking it as it wasn't in the 'coo bible' Mostly found in the states from what i have found out. I have a couple with slightly different coo's (was actually considering putting one on my next sales thread before you asked about it) coo Pics to follow... |

| Wolff's guide is possibly the most comprehensive guide to a specific field in the vintage Star Wars world, but unforyunately it's now dated and missing alot, and both Wolff's second and third COO guides have remained incomplete also, mainly because of the sheer extent of the work involved, most of the figures from mid ESB period right through till the end have 3 or 4 unique COO's for each individual mold family and of course many at this point where stamped on both legs making 12 to 16 possible combinations for each, all of this of course makes documenting them very difficult and even Wolff's extensive collection is widely incomplete when working on this scale.
The Made In Hong Kong Vader was the first I ever owned and was bought from a dealer in the U.K. many years ago. Like Lee said, there will be at least one other version of this, possibly more.
Mine isn't to shiny though Marco? |

| One of my favourite coo for Vader, personally i think this coo is an earlly coo, i had the chance to confirm that the ESB printed ackbar MOC can come with this coo, when the bubble came loose on a spare i had. Also many of my lettered saber figures have this coo. |

| I'm not quite sure where to pin these really. All the documented (early) Vaders have the standard "Hong Kong" CoOs. (test shots, Engineering Pilots, and samples). So no idea when this change occurred, or why. I have two examples, and both were found here in the US. The casting issue with the foot seems to be consistent among the different examples I've seen.

| Thanks for starting this thread Stefan! Tonight I finally seeked actively for a MIHK Vader sample and had luck finding a nice complete one on ebay in the US. I have known about the MIHK coo for years, but for the past two years or so all my focus/attention has been drawn towards the Spanish Poch/PBP figure variants. So until tonight I had the unique and very rare no coo "blurrred out" PBP Vader, two samples of the unique HK Poch Vader (one of them is a spare) but no MIHK Vader LOL. I even found the rare Taiwan coo vader years ago from an Australian based collection... The MIHK Vader isn't easy to find at all, but just as with the Euro no coo Meccano produced? (LFL 1977) Chewie these MIHK Vaders aren't that terrible rare. Regarding the Chewie there are at least two for sale at BIN prices on ebay right now - probably even more if you watch out for the small round eyes. |
