Subject: Did Taiwan used better plastic? Tue Mar 05, 2013 9:41 pm
I got a admiral ackbar this week and he is from Taiwan and i can see that compare to my Hong Kong copy he is chalk white.
The Hong Kong version is somehwat based out of translucent white plastic wich tends to yellow faster than the Taiwan toys...
It would seem that Taiwan was using better plastic than Hong Kong or the other places.
Anyone agree?

I'd suspect the quality of plastic in asia was very similar. I have Taiwan Biker scouts that are big bird yellow ..... What the plastic has been exposed to in the last 30 years is still the biggest factor(s) to the appearance now. Taiwan Leias & Lukes are 'usually' in good condition.... Ackbar arms can also be painted white & not moulded in white plastic which makes a big visual difference.
