| My Star Wars hobby is an escape from every day life. While murders of children and adults in Connecticut is a horrific tragedy that deserves reflection and awareness, disdain for the crazy dickhead that did this, and empathy for those families affected, it's NOT something that I want shoved down my throat when I'm trying to escape my day to day life and immerse myself in the world of vintage Star Wars toy collecting. John, I can only assume that this was your idea since you now own TIG. I understand that you want to have your remorse heard an pay homage, but this is a FUCKING stupid business move. Keep with the theme of what this website is suppose to be about if you want it to flourish! PLEASE TAKE DOWN THAT AD LISTING ALL THOSE THAT DIED!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't want to see it. I'm not being insensitive, I just need my hobby to be a pleasurable experience, not infiltrated by the gross reality of the world we live in. I just want to think about old toys when I come here and have my visits here be positive. I will not return to TIG until SOMEONE emails or PMs me that this ad is gone... Someone please do so when it is because I don't really want to become a "former member" of TIG. With all due respect, Trevor (aka Rubberlike) |

| Sounds more like something that should be said in a PM Trevor.
I'd like to say alot more. With stronger words. But it's Christmas time.
Merry Christmas. |

| I have to say I agree with Paul and think this is something that could of been discussed in a PM. I also think that this is a very nice tribute to the one's that were killed in the tragic events, and it shows that there is more to this forum than just vintage Star Wars toys, and that there is a real community spirit within the place even when it comes to real life events. Maybe my view on it is different to others on here because as a parent of a child the same age as some of the kids killed,it just touches me more.

| It's Christmas Eve and frankly I need to get a ton done so this is going to be quick and in a single pass.
Trevor - It's up until Wednesday (1 week from when it went up). It's a very simple memorial. I'm sorry you feel so strongly against it that you would threaten to leave the site. There is no opinion, no agenda. No gun control talk, no "cop at every school" stance. It's there for those who lost their lives, not for you and not for me.
Overall I have gotten a few comments and PMs and every one has been positive.
Sorry you feel this way, see you back on Wednesday. Until then, Merry Christmas everyone. |

Make sure when you're driving around town to do so with your eyes closed. Wouldn't want you to see businesses and government buildings flying the American flag at half mast this week. |

| I agree with everyone here on this it was a tragic even't as of now it's Christmas day for us now but just think of what those families are going through this minute Including those of the two firemen kiled on Christmas eve. I wouldnt trade my day with them for anything. We talk strong of peace and Love this time of year, while so meny are going through hell on earth, Yes this is a collectors forum which that's true but we are all still people who have feelings and if there is a list of names put up to honor the dead victims so what if it offens anyone don't read it I realy liked Mike-z's response though.
I did not write this to cause any trouble in anyway I just feel if you have an issue the like everyone said us a PM if you post it in an open area then get ready to read what others have to say about it. |

| Sorry Im late to the party on this, but I have to say my piece.
Trevor, I think that was the shittiest thing you could have ever said................EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What John did was very thoughtful and nice to pay tribute to those who were cut down before their lives even started. But I guess it wouldnt have bothered you if it was for one of your kids would it? I know if it was one of mine (if I had any) I would be very thankful that someone out there I didnt know was willing to pay tribute to my kids this way. You are seriously one cold hearted son of a bitch to say what you did and its assholes like you who make me sick to my stomach to say I ever was assocciated with this fucking hobby. If you do leave over this, well all I can say is it wont be a lose to the community anyway. All you did since coming here was bitch and complain about something any fucking way. And I agree that what you said shouldve been through pm. You want to hang out dirty laundry to the public, expect to get your ass handed to you. You put your pants on the same way all of us do, one leg at a damn time so your no better than any one of us here. Next time you have a fucked up thought like this, just let it go. In other words.........shut the fuck up!
Also, this post or thread better not dissapear. I want his ass to see and read this so next time he will think about what he says before he overloads his mouth. |

| Strange, unnecessary and troubling. The listing of the names of those who tragically died, though powerful and sad, didn't take the joy out of coming here – only dumb and angry/hostile posts can do that. |

| Everyone is entitled to their opinion but please keep it civil. I personally also keep Star Wars as my haven away from 'normal' life. |

| Yes like Chris said don't lock or get rid of this thread. also like AJ said lets try to keep it civil which is sometimes eisier said then done trust me I really had to cool down before I posted the first time or mine would have been like Chris's or worst. I have two daughters myself and would be crushed if something happened to them but for a stranger to take it apon themselves to make a memorial tribute to people they don't even know is very touching and makes me even more happy to be in a place where most people accually give a damn about others. |

| Mine was being civil. Ask anyone who knows me and they will tell you. After all the things I've been dealing with the last 4 months on a personal level and then come back to see a post like that just set it in motion. I just couldn't believe the level that some people can stoop to to show their stupidity these days, at least until i read that post. But i said it best the way i could since i don't speak idiot and tell his ass off in his own language. |

| It's a very touchy subject we're dealing with here. And there will be as many views on it as there are folks on this forum. We're not always going to agree for sure. EVERYONE is entitled to there opinion. BUT sometimes an opinion gets put forward that is totally out of left field and completely better done privately. The above original post being a prime example. I applaud Chris for standing up and telling it like it is. It's one of the reasons we're friends. Now lets get back to fighting about whether Jawas with speckles are a variant or just stupid. PS: Chris your sig is much to large. |

| Though I really try my best to stay away from non-collecting threads, everyone is entitled to their opinion.
Well,here is mine.
John,
Thank you for paying tribute to the victims of the horrific tragedy. To often, the piece of shit killer gets the glory, while the families grieve in solace. Let us celebrate the lives that were taken to early and wish the killer rots in hell and burns each day for what he did. He is lucky he took his own life, that fucking coward. The parents of the children he murdered, would take their vengeance out on him 1000 times worse.
Whew, that felt good and back to my normal jawa collecting ways.. |
