On another forum there is a discussion on figures bursting through bubbles and other travesties related to blisters. I've been a fan of the AFA custom rails and, despite the issue earlier which was resolved, really think it's a must for higher end and fragile items.

So here's a little shot of them and what they are. If you get anything graded, it's only $25 extra and believe me it's money well spent.

The Uzays are a sliding back open cases with a second pane of acrylic flush with the cardback. Then a square is made to house the bubble.

The Yoda, VCJ, and Leia POCH are custom rails that have a hole in the bottom for the blister stem.

The DSC is a simple acrylic square surrounding a non-stem bubble.

John, it looks like the rails for the bubble still leave a little bit of room on both top and bottom between the bubble edge and the rail. Is this the case? If so how is that any better for the bubble? I am not a carded collector but from what I read in the other thread the problem was that the figures could move in the bubble and build enough momentum to crack the bubble. Do these rails provide enough resistance to stop the figure from breaking or cracking the bubbles?

I've had a few of my Uzay's encased with rails too - and I don't understand why they don't make it snugger around the bubble either! For a couple of them there is actually quite a bit of room around the bubble and I question whether they serve their intended purpose at all.

John, do all yours have a decent amount of room around the bubble, or are some of them tight? BTW that R5 is hideous, and it IS my birthday tomorrow

There is a little room on them. I think the primary function it's to keep the bubble tight against the cardback. I think the room around it is a catch 22. If it's too snug the pressure might crack the bubble with any impact. Too loose and the figure can bang through it.

Turk , Happy Birthday! I'll get the R5 right out to you lol
