| I have a loose graded figure, which is dusty & marked. So, I want to remove it in order to clean it up (Why the person who sent it to AFA didn't clean it up I don't know ). Anyway, I was planning to use a wood chissel placed on the bottom corner of the case parallel to the base (there is a slight recess there) & carefully hit it with a hammer in order to separate the base & release the figure. Obviously I don't care about any damage to the case, but I don't want to risk damaging the figure. Do you think this method would work, or do any of you have other methods that are proven to work? |

| when the chissel is in the ridge, just turn the chissel to break a part off the bottom off and then remove the rest from the bottom with pliers. This is the method i use. |

| I was just pointed to this thread by cantina_patron (thanks!!!) for two major questions I had. 1) Is it frowned upon to do so? 2) How to do it? Both were answered!!! NICE! I take it by the replies that not only is it not frowned upon, it's somewhat liked! And to open, awesome. I was expecting goggles, a dremmel and a few shots of tequilla or something. Nice to see its fairly simple and straight forward. Thanks!!!!!!! If/when I pull the trigger, I will post the pics up. |

| I moved my post to the looking-for-collectors-who-opened-afa-graded-loose-figures thread.
I was in the wrong tab when I hit reply. Sorry about that. |
