Getting your items graded by AFA Empty
PostSubject: Getting your items graded by AFA   Getting your items graded by AFA I_icon_minitimeThu Jun 14, 2012 12:52 am

Thanks to the wonderful raffle 'gift' I received, I figured I wanted to send my first item to AFA to get graded. I know it won't be that high but I just would love to see the results and have it 'documented' since some of the Revenge proofs have low documented numbers (10-15 for some, including the 'honky' Bespin Guard.

So, I printed out the PDF's... which was about 100 pages in all :silent:

So the submission list has a bunch of stuff I have no clue on what to enter... so any help, I'd be very thankful (and if this needs to be in another forum, please move, thanks!!!).

The top blanks, I have some filled... well, four total (year, company, series, name). Not sure about these blanks...

Details:
Item Grading/Casing Specifics:
Fair Market Value:
Tier Code:
Tier Cost:
(cost of optional upgrades, do I need any for a proof?)

Then would you recommend the Classic or Clear view 'style label'?

Again, this is for the Revenge of the Jedi 'Bespin Guard' (black) proof seen here:

Ryan

Let me save you some time. It is absolutely not worth doing. AFA has a place in this hobby, despite the negativity it gets, but it's not in your case.

If you're going to AFA something, I'd say without a doubt it must be something in either superb shape (that would graded an 85 or better) or something that needs authentication (Vinyl Jawa, DT Luke). A Revenge proof in general aren't faked since there is decent amount of them. This one has a crease as well, so it wouldn't score an 85. Therefore, save your money.

You can buy a photo top loading plastic frame from a craft store for about $3 that will protect it, or even go nuts and buy an acrylic case for $20.

Either way, getting it graded is a waste of money, it'll grade low, and honestly you can achieve the same look buy just buying a case and putting it in there.

Here's one:

Thanks for the reply, I will probably hold off after thinking about it then reading your post. I would like to get a 'hard cover' for it. Don't they make a larger plastic container that looks like the hard baseball card holder? That would be perfect for the proof.
