Hi,

I was told to post here concerning a new variety REPRO Bib Fortuna staff I discovered. REPRO was purchased from ebay.

I had a genuine Bib Fortuna staff (Variety 2—top staff, center hole) to compare.

The REPRO Bib Fortuna staff is more rigid than the original. (The REPRO copies Variety 2—top staff, center hole.) The color of the REPRO staff is a glossy brownish grey; the inside material is similar to a Revell plastic model. The REPRO staff snapped when I applied a small amount of force.

The real staff floats and the REPRO sinks in water.

The real staff has a nicer "fit and finish", is olive colored and is more supple than the fake.

Weight for both is similar.

Scrapping the paint off the REPRO would have also determined it was a fake.
