PostSubject: Cool Factory Error IG-88   Cool Factory Error IG-88 I_icon_minitimeSun Feb 05, 2012 11:59 am

This week I received this IG-88 figure. He is a cool figure, for different reasons.

Cool Factory Error IG-88 IMG_5801

Cool Factory Error IG-88 Ig8811

Cool Factory Error IG-88 IMG_5781

First of all, he has a COO with the bigger ''©️'' in ''©️ 1980 L.F.L." like in COO #3 but is lacking "HONG KONG". This COO is not yet depicted in the guide, let's call it COO #7.

Apart from a less frequent COO there is also something else about this figure. Take a look again in the picture what do you see?

Select the text underneath with your mouse to see the answer Very Happy

POOR IGGY HAS HIS ARMS ORIENTED BACKWARDS AND TWO LEFT LEGS!!

Apart from the obvious factory mistakes, this figure is also different with respect to:
- the glossiness of the used metallic finish
- the stiffness of the limbs, the limbs are made of very hard plastic
- the colour of the sensor 'spots' on the head

See the pics below, from left to right you see:

1) COO #6, No wire along the right leg, normal eyes, dull metallic (silver) finish, pale orange spots on head, flexible limbs
2) COO #7 (factory error), No right leg, normal eyes, glossy metallic finish, dull orange spots on head, very hard limbs
3) COO #5, Wire along the right leg, hollow eyes, very glossy metallic finish, dark orange spots on head, hard limbs

When I took a closer look at this figure I noticed a small gap line all along the front and back part of his torso. Without using any force I could separate the two parts and basically ended up with a non welded figure. WOW! This figure did not stop to surprise me. Shocked

IG-88 factory error: Note the gap line between the front and back torso parts (left figure).

IG-88 factory error: Taken apart w/o any problem. Non welded?

I am not an expert so I don't know whether there is evidence for welding at all. The connecting edges of the two parts look relatively 'clean' to me.

I was wondering, whether you have seen such IG-88 before (apart from the obvious errors)?
I would like to know a little bit more about him.

Oh yeah, and I need a loose hard plastic right leg to complete Iggy. Very Happy

Great score Marco, that IG it's amazing, from what I can see on your pics 100% unwelded.
Congrats!

Iggy came from Spain in a small lot with POCH figures, as a regular figure.

I had noticed the wrongly oriented arms before, but I think it was Paul who mentioned the two left legs when we were discussing this figure in chat.

Probably the seller didn't know.

EDIT: Another IG-88 with COO #7 appeared on TIG.

lol!

He did not know much about Star Wars, I think.

Normally he sells other toy lines. But I was honest and paid him a very good price for his figure lot: win-win.
