OK, I bought these guys a few days ago from a gun seller. He never mentioned the words "vintage", "vinyl", "repro" or anything close to it. None of his auctions or feedback was Star Wars related, and the description was about as vague as can be. I won them for next to nothing, so if by some chance they are fakes, its not a HUGE deal, but I think I did pretty good. The color looks right, the cape length looks great, and the vinyl is not very thick at all as you can see from the slight folds and all in the cape around the legs and all

These have not come in yet, I will get better pics and do the "zip" test when they arrive. I am going out of town tomorrow till monday, so hopefully they show up today!

To me the capes look oversized...

I agree, they look odd on that picture, but I have seen quite a few like that when I started googling pictures. I also played around with mine and had it looking almost identical to the larger overlay the one on the right has. Most of the time you see them with the cape folded in and creased along the collar, so when they are open like that, they look off for sure. I saw a few repro Capes that were very close in color. I'm debating on buying Ome to have as reference, as well as a revalveit saber, but I don't want to support repros in any way, but it would not hurt to learn about these things

Like I said, these may be fake, but they may be real. It was well worth rolling the dice for what they cost me. Naturally, I hope they real because I got 2, lol. They were not listed as vintage, no key words used, and the seller had NO stars wars anywhere in his feedback. It's not impossible that he came across them on chance and just threw them up on eBay. At the same time, it's possible someone sold him some junk, lol

I showed pics to 3 people, one of which is a very informed vintage collector and all 3 said they looked great.

Hey guys, just to give this thread closure, I think I got hosed

The vinyl seems very "strong" compared to my torn cape one, but the color is almost perfect. It makes a zip noise on one side, but not THE zip noise. I will post a few pics when I get home, but I am working a million hours a week now.

Good news is my DT Luke will be here any time now!

Hope they are legit, but from the pix, like Dennis said, they look too big. Its possible they are Kenobi capes cut down. Compare the cape in your shot to this one.

You can tell the capes on the pix of yours looks way bigger compared to the MOC one. And if you got them dirt cheap on Ebay, thats a red flag right away. No VCJ is going to go dirt cheap if its legit, unless it was listed wrong and no one else seen it.

These are definitely not cut kenobi capes, the colors are totally different. The capes are the right size, but you usually don't see them open like they are in that picture. I folded them up and they look exactly like they should

This lot was listed as an "other" auction and had no mention of vinyl capes. It ended at 2pm as a "cool star wars lot" and the seller had no star wars items in his feedback. If these are fake, I doubt the seller even knows what a VCJ is.

For the record, I won my real VC in lot for 102 bucks along with 9 stormtroopers and 15 other first release figures, so they can be had cheap if you spend enough time looking, lol

I think the only way you'll know for sure is to post up some detailed pictures and the people here will let you know, getting some good pictures up will also help the rest of us who find ourselves in this situation.

I am at about 99% sure they are fakes, but they look SOOOO DAMN CLOSE!

Heres a couple threads and sites to help you out. I dont have one to compare to, so I wont say for sure. The one on the lefts cape looks like its been cut wrong unless thats the way its standing. The one on the rights eyes is wrong. The VCJ should have the eyes like the other two. Im using the first link for that info. Hope these 2 links help you some on it.

Besides the arm holes being too large, do you see the cross hatching on the inside of the capes? I would think that would be the one major thing that would prove they are fake.
