Hi Alex
Return was to be called Revenge of the Jedi and Kenner had a lot of the cardbacks and boxes ready for the launce off the movie . ( They had to know what was in the movie , to have the toys ready when the movie opend , It takes about a year to make a toy , form idea to the production is up and running )
But it is said the Lucas not very long before the movie opend . Found out that Jedi's don't seek revenge . And changed the titel to Return .
So Kenner had to change all the logos on all the cardbacks and boxes . This was very expencive as it was before computers so all the artwork had to be done by hand.
Kenner has always kept proofs of all the stuff they made in their so call "Dead Files " And there semed to be very much of this Revenge proofs floating around.
This is just my own opinion , but i think that Kenner kept ALL of the Revenge stuff , maybe to use in a court case .
As it must have coast them a great deal of money to make the canges so late in the production.
Again this is just my own idea. I have never heard about it or any cort case .
No toys where ever shiped or sold under the name Revenge . But a few carded figures on revenge proof cards has been found . They where from a toy fair show , and was kept by a Kenner employe .
How ever there where sold alot of figures on cardbacks with the Revenge of the Jedi Akbar offfer . This comes both as a sticker and as a print on the Cardback .
You can see some of them here:
I hope this helps you
Soren
