Macau baggies Empty
PostSubject: Macau baggies   Macau baggies I_icon_minitimeSun Mar 14, 2010 10:40 am

I am looking to collate pictures of the various macau text baggies that are out there, I have quite a lot of pictures but I bet there are a few people out there with either some baggies or some pictures that can help Very Happy

Blue , black text, doesn't matter - Just want to see the pictures Very Happy

Here is a list that I am working on with known figures in Macau baggies that
are either known or have been seen in Macau baggies, I will attempt over time to
collate pictures of more than one of each figure (different sources if possible)

8D8 - Blue text (Heat)
B-wing Pilot - Black text (??)
Bib Fortuna - Blue text (Heat)
C3PO Rem Limbs - Blue text (Taped)
Chewbacca - Blue text (Heat)
Emperor - Blue text (Heat)
Gamorrean Guard - Blue text ( ?? )
Han Hoth - Blue text (Heat)
Han Trench - Blue text (Heat)
Logray - (???)
Leia Poncho - (???)
Luke Jedi - Blue text (Heat)
R2-D2 Sensorscope - Blue text (??)
Rancor Keeper - Blue text (Heat)

That will do for starters, there are a few bagged samples in macau baggies but I am not sure if its easier to bundle them in the list or wait till more show up?

Thanks Shawn, can you confirm the seal type? I don't remember from when we spoke about it or even if it was disclosed !

Del, definitely need your help on this and I know you made a similar thread on RS, half of this information is from there, I found some really cool pictures of figures from the Meccano free figure offer (you remember the box of bagged figures and store display box)

Hope we can keep adding, confirming and discussing these baggies Very Happy

Hi joe,

The only one i have owned tape sealed is a c3po r/limbs, i have seen one more and that was taped too.
All the others i have owned are either blue, black or red text heat sealed baggies.

The red text ones are very poor quality baggies and look home made.

From what i have read mate meccano imported their figures from macau, so they were obviously shipped in baggies to the factory. I pressume they were supposed to be carded.
I know palitoy recieved some if not all of their figures in baggies. I was told it was to keep weapons/figures together.

also a lot of the signed sample baggies are in macau blue text baggies.

Thanks Del, Good to have some more info, I think a few may well be tape sealed like you said but sometimes from pictures it is hard to tell !

Those red text bags are odd and I deliberately left them out as they in my opinion look strange and as there are so few it would be hard to say yes or no to them being legit, or even finding more examples to compare.

As for what we just spoke about in PM, the Meccano free figure promotion contained a real mix of baggie types, some store made probably, fixed with staples , funny sizes and unmarked.

However I found some really interesting pictures that show that the Red promotion sticker was in many cases covering the bags origin text, the bigger pictures showed them looking plain and unmarked but this is not the case !

Macau baggies Coffre10

This is the promotional store display and now for a real treat, some of the baggies from this promotion that show the blue Macau text hidden under the Red promo sticker.

Macau baggies Rancor10

Macau baggies Macaur10

Macau baggies Macaub10

These are not mine (I wish) so I hope the owner won't mind.

It definitely shows that some of the bags thought to be unmarked were in fact Blue text Macau bags , which in turn proves that certain characters were bagged in them.

Excellent pics joe, thats the first time i have seen those close up pics with the text showing under the sticker.
The ones with the red sticker are very hard to come by.

I did a bit of research and turned up a few stones to find them but glad I did, I can honestly say I have never seen one up for sale with the Red sticker but its great to link the promo with the Macau bagged figures, especially those blue text ones, sometimes it seems that if its not made in the USA it doesn't exist lol (especially baggies Sad )

In regard to what you said about there not being any close up pictures of the boxed find, I don't think there were any taken by the seller , at least not like the ones above and these probably turned up outside of that boxed find.

Here are a few more pictures of the Meccano promotion display and the bagged figures.

Imagine winning that lot at auction, I would be in my element Cool

Snap Del, I also have those Stormie baggie pictures saved as well, glad you have the same opinion of them although in this hobby its never best to stick your head in the sand and say something doesnt exist as anything is possible!

I think Euro bagged figures are hugely under appreciated and even worse, not yet understood completely Sad

Great thread lads!!

What is is like trying to pick up baggies these days compared to a few years ago?

There seems to be much less for sale on ebay or similar these days.

Im mainly a MOC collector but i sniff on ebay a lot lol and i notice the change in trends, prices, types of items up etc.

It seems baggies don't come up quite as much as they used to, probably due to more people collecting them and more people U grading them.

Either dribs and drabs or a collector liquidating is the most common thing to see on ebay, when its a big collection all being sold individually you get the best bargains Laughing

EDIT- Or if you are Del and you offer to come hand retrieve POTF baggies then you get even better bargains lol! lol!

Completely agree about the euro baggies joe.

It seems that a lot of the non european collectors don't appreciate them.

So little is known about them, and there are not many people i know that actually collect them.
i've picked up palitoy & macau baggies for quite a few years now, and i have not had too much competition lol.

Kenner baggies are much more popular and easier to locate.

As for baggie collecting, it is much tougher now than it was when i started out.
I have seen the biggest decline in the past 2 years, U grading has really affected the market.

To put a full set together is no easy task, but something i wish more people would try to really appreciate just how rare some are. Maybe some of the U collecting guys should try to put a set together, then maybe they would think twice before sending in a rare baggie for a U grade.

In the auction it was stated as heat sealed.

I would agree with what has been said about baggies turning up not as frequently these days. There were the common ones that almost all the dealers had in the 90's for around $6 or so and even those are not as easy to find anymore. Probably the only few that you still see a lot of are the Salcious Crumb, Jabba Pipe & Bowl, C-3PO removable limbs, and the Emperor Overstock mailers. It seems that when baggies do get listed the seller has quite a few of them at the same time.

I'm working on putting a set together along with the multi-packs (Thanks, Joe.). Like Del and Joe said, they seldom pop up anymore like they use to. When I started collecting in '07, it seemed they were everywhere. Now your lucky to see a hand full pop up every month. And with U collectors, its going to get worse because the ones in collections are going to be locked down for awhile.

I'd still like to see a list of what figures came in what bag style ( cough, cough Del Laughing cough, cough). The list on SWCA only gives a rarity list, which is nice. But look at the first 12. Were they released in all bag types or just a few? That is whats needed just like Wolffs COO list.

You can mark the Logray as confirmed. I found one on Ebay just now that I put an offer in on. Its a heat sealed bag.
