yhea, david draimans side band. Sounds way too much like Disturbed if you ask me. I say if your going to do a side project, make it sound different. Look at Sully Ernas solo project. Sounds nothing like Godsmack.
Hers some more i like.

Wow, just seen this, great thread Never heard of Stephen Lynch James, but certainly is a funny guy judging by the vids mate I'm into quite a wide variety of music, I like the old school metal(Loads of), punk(sex pistols especially), Rap, Cypress Hill, Mobb Deep, Wu Tang clan ect, But if I had to pick a top 3, it would be 1. Pink Floyd(seen them live 5 times), 2. Frank Zappa, 3.Talking Heads.(also like 2 tone, revival SKA band The Specials) James(ourchickenshack) has been kind enough to open my eyes to one of his favs, Buckethead ! And I must say that guy can really play guitar Thanks mate Cheers Andy

I'm really all over the board, things I don't like include Nu Metal, modern country, and 99.9% of all Rap/hip hop. I also can't stand Emo/screamo and anything resembling it. I also really have no love for Trojan era Ska, as well as 3rd wave and newer Ska. Two Tone era Ska is ok tho.
Genres that I do like include:
Punk: especially UK 82 style stuff: GBH, Varukers, Discharge, Chaos UK, Exploited etc Early CA style;Black Flag, Circle Jerks, X, Germs, Adolescents etc Early Boston style like FU's, The Freeze, Gang Green etc Horrorpunk:Misfits, Blitzkid, Mister Monster, Forbidden Dimension etc Most 77 era bands: SLF, The Damned,The Vibrators, Xray Spex
Oi!: Pretty much all of it, even the RAC stuff that I disagree with the politics of, is better than most other music out there. Bands of note include; Blitz,Forced Reality,Anti Heros,Cockney Rejects, Wretched Ones, Stormwatch, Infa Riot, The Bruisers,Evil Conduct, Arresting Officers and many, many more
Hardcore: most stuff that predates the "crossover" era, where metal and hardcore became a little too close for eithers own good. Bands of note include: Negative Approach,MDC, (early)Agnostic Front,Bad Brains, Boston Strangler, Intent To Injure, Antibodies
Psychobilly: which is essentially Rockabilly with a punk edge to it. Examples: The Meteors, The Quakes,(early) Nekromantix, Mad Sin, Sasquatch and the Sickabillies etc.
Deathrock: mostly Batcave era and early LA stuff: Bands of note: Specimen, Alien Sex Fiend, Christian Death (Rozz era only)
Gothrock: If you're confusing this genre with Manson or metal, never mind. If you know who Bauhaus and Sisters of Mercy are you're on the right track.
Postpunk: bands like New Model Army, Joy Division, Echo and the Bunnymen, Gang Of Four
Neo Folk: bands like Death In June, Boyd Rice and Friends, Changes, Darkwood,
As well as a host of 80s pop such as The Cure, Depeche Mode, New Order, The Smiths, Oingo Boingo and similar bands
SOME Metal, stuff along the lines of Motorhead, Iron Maiden, Manowar, Dio, Venom, Celtic Frost
As said, I'm pretty much all over the place, but am still pretty selective. And forgot to mention also a huge Zappa and KISS fan.

I am not a musician but music has always been very important in my life
There have been many well known great artists mentioned in this thread already
to all who have taken the time to post
I am going to start posting a few that are not as well known in the hopes that others will discover something different that might tickle their fancy . Andy (Nico) and I have shared many PM's discussing alot of these artists - we both enjoy the unusual and I am hoping that at least some of the rest of you members will too
I will start off with Les Claypool - Bass player supreme If you are familiar with him it is most likely from Primus but he has been invoved in many projets :
Les Claypools Fearless Flying Frog Brigade :
This is a fanmade video using the studio recording released :
Fantastic (but long) live version of the same song . I believe this is actually Claypool's "Fancy Band" and not the actual complete Frog Brigade :
Oysterhead (w/ Trey Anastasio from Phish and Stewart Copeland from The Police) :
a favorite of mine but a lesser known Primus song :
I can go on and on but I won't Hopefully after peeking behind this door you will choose to go on in and explore the unknown more for yourself
more weirdness will follow ... stay tuned

Heres another musician that I am a huge fan of ...
Mr . Mike Patton
Most of you are probably familiar with him from Faith No More , one of my all time fav bands as well
He has done so much more that it is unbelievable - very experimental , avant garde or whatever the hell you want to call it - the dude lives in his own little universe
Patton was with Mr. Bungle long before Faith No More - some early self produced Bungle release titles are Raging Wraith of The Easter Bunny , Goddammit I Love America !! , O.U.8.1.8. and a couple more that I can't remember at the moment . "Mr. Bungle" , their 1st major lable release , came out about the same time as Patton joined Faith No More and due to record company disputes he wasn't even allowed to be credited as the vocalist on Bungles self titled release - he is listed as Vlad Drac
this first clip looks like very early concert footage but the studio recording has be dubbed over ... and no its not Slipknot Due to the record company dispute Patton wasn't even to publically perform with Bungle at first... so he wore a mask and the other guys joined him - they actually did the mask thing long before Slipknot .
Fantomas - Patton w/ Dave lombardo(Slayer) , Buzz Osborne(Melvins) and Trevor Dunn(Mr. Bungle) . Their best release is called The Director's Cut - all movie soundtrack songs that have been given that speacial Patton twist
Tomahawk ...
Peeping Tom ...
Patton has been in more bands and had more guest vocals with odd bands than I can even begin to list ...
I know this isn't everyone cup of tea but , if your tired of the same old BS being rehashed over and over on the radio , give this guy a listen

Interesting videos Stef - thank you for sharing you musical tastes
I am slightly familiar with the Rave scene but have never been to one unfortunately Is that you in the 1st pic with the yellow shirt ?
I like a little electronic style music as well - over here in the states I think its called Techno I like the Crystal Method and Chemical Brothers quite a bit because they have a bit more of a "edge" to their music .
Heres a cool Crystal Method with Filter video ...

Faithless - God Is A DJ (Live At Alexandra Palace)
And this next group were absolutely amazing live....
The Prodigy - Warriors Dance (LIVE @ Glastonbury 2009)
And I can't mention the Prodigy without this oldskool classic!...

great vids guys, really luvin the les claypool stuff Jim, that Oysterhead track is awesome, copeland was really on form I really like the Mike Patton stuff as well, King For A Day is one of my all time favourite albums which had the Mr Bungle guitarist play on as Big Jim Martin had previously left the band. The peeping Tom and Tommahawk albums I was already a little familiar with, as my sister is a big Patton fan and she gave me copies of those albums . Some interesting stuff from you too Stefan, I liked the Chase and Status track: Lost and found, great vid too and of course Faithless and The Prodigy are absolute legends The prodigy are one of those groups that cross over and have appeal to so many fans of different musical genres.
A few of the bands that i'm listening to at the mo:
This is called 'Cuba' by a band called Bad Sign from their debut album 'de l'amour' released in April 2013
'We Are' by Karnivool, an australian rock/prog band. This is from their latest album 'Asymetry'
this Is the latest track from Don Broco they're not a heavy band, quite poppy in fact but these tunes just kinda get stuck in your head and they are pretty good to jump around to, not everyone's cup of tea but i like em
another one from their last album 'Priorities' tracks called 'Hold On'
and finally an oldie, but goodie. 'Colony Of Birchmen' by Mastodon
edit: Had to add this one too, cos its just awesome
hope you like em

He will be playing at Cains Ballroom in Tulsa OK the first part of February and I will be there

you can't tell me that this doesn't make you want to shake that ass

Just catching up with this thread, he he wow that one magic pipe guy is awesome I really enjoyed these vids Jim. Thanks for introducing me to 'that 1 guy' and his magic pipe I was really amazed at the different ways he could play it. Either as a percussion instrument or a string. Also the amazing variety of sounds he was able to produce in combination with the drum pedals and sampling/ looping of his sound. Very cool and weird and a spectacle to watch. The opening of the Frankenstein Brothers track reminded me a bit of Ozric Tentacles, which took me back to my student days

Glad you like That 1 Guy Chris
he is quite amazing and a real pleasure to see and hear live
when I saw the Frankenstein Brothers the opening act was Brian Wolff :
check him out on youtube for more
The show went like this ...
1) Wolff opened and played for about a half hour .
2) Then Bucky played solo for 1/2 hour or so .
3) That 1 Guy played solo for about 1/2 hour .
4) Bucky then joined That 1 Guy for the next hour ...
5) Wolff then joined the Frankenstein Brothers for a mind blowing finale
It was truly one of the best and most unique live shows that I have ever seen
