As I read a comment or two on the "rare/amazing" thread I was thinking about my start in vintage. It goes by so fast and just like the nostalgia of the figures themselves, there's nostalgia in the journey. So I did a little search and took my trip to Sept 24th 2008 to see my first limelight. I'd been collecting for a short while already but completely on my own, using Ebay, no knowledge of forums even existing to this magnitude. Amazing what happens in a couple of years. Fun idea John and you are right it is a blast to look back and see the evolution of your collection. Here is the oldest photo of my collection from around '94 which I've posted before.

I always knew about the message boards and such during my collecting. If I remember right I heard about rassc on the archive which I found during one of my first online experiences in mid '95. I wish I would have gotten involved around then. Here's the only post I ever made on rassc in 1996. I was a character focus collector in the making and didn't even realize it.

It wasn't until 2005 that I joined RS although I had been lurking there for several years.

Sadly have only recently joined the on-line community so haven't got any digital records of my collection the in the early days. I do have photos that I took in the nighties so If I can get them scanned or converted to digital copies ... I will gladly share.

I like the familar theme that most newbies start out on the figures. I remember finishing my set a proud time lining them all up for the group photo.

The only limelight I have is the ones on here. That is unless you consider a for sale thread as a limelight. Then mine would be from '09 when I sold off everything, but most of the pix are deleted now.

This is great guys. I love to see the progression of everyone's focus. I know I started out collecting vintage by buying a few Boba Fett's and a Slave 1. I had only been collecting modern stuff before then. Went from having a few random figures on a shelf to getting focused and working on a quality complete loose collection (which is getting closer & closer everyday). I stopped just buying random things and got a plan going after lurking around here and RS. Still waiting to post some decent pics of my collection. Need to get some quality photos taken.

Anyway, I guess this would be my first (first picture I posted on facebook a few years ago anyway).

John - that's an awesome boxed Sny Snootles btw. I see that one stayed with you through the years. Those are some figures I didn't really ever think of including in my collection. Guess I better if I want to be "complete".

Limelighting my Boxed STAR WARS Collection


In my very first limelighting thread are scanned (low resolution) pictures of my Boxed Vintage Star Wars collection. These pics tell you more about my collecting focus on boxed U.S. Kenner Vehicles, Creatures, Playsets and Collector's Case. What is showcased in these weblinks are in chronological order of boxed items with STAR WARS packaging box graphics, which were released by Kenner from 1978 to 1979 and again under their selected Collector's Series in 1983.

This particular webshots album showcases the relatively rare SW packaging graphics with THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK logo that were available shortly in 1980. Also featured is my Kenner Canada TESB Boxed Patrol Dewback which I acquired from Cloud City Collectibles. At that point of my limelighting thread at end 2003, I do not own the Kenner Canada TESB boxed Radio Controlled Jawa Sandcrawler as shown in this pic :



it only entered my collection during Winter 2004.
