| Hiya lads, I've been quiet on the vintage front recently as I have started building a few costumes which is taking time and funds. It all started years ago when I bought a Stromtrooper helmet, my missus put her foot down and said 'no way was I buying a bloody stormtrooper outfit, toys are bad enough!' Then I had the opportunity to purchase a full set of armour with boots from a friend on these boards some months ago. This opened a whole new world of forums - UKgarrison.co.uk, dentedhelmet.com, bikerscout.net and whitearmour.net. These guys take the building of armour and costuming very seriously but still offer great advice and there is a real good community spirit, much like what we have here. I have spent many, many hours strapping, gluing, trimming and re-sizing my stormtrooper armour and I am a few weeks away from having it complete so I can apply for clearance from the 501st. The attention to detail to be movie accurate takes time and needs upgrading from guys who specifically make certain parts of the armour like the canvas belt for the stormie and the correct holster for the E-11 blaster. I have nearly finished the top half of my armour, but I still need to finish my belt and the leg pieces. This then led me onto buying a beautiful Tusken helmet which I will finish with a full costume later in the year.... But my new project is Fett. I was very, very lucky to purchase some pieces from a long time member of TDH who was having to sell up and I picked up a helmet which was painted by one of the best out there. Here's a link to thread of him showing how he built and painted the lid. The attention to detail is immense... http://www.thedentedhelmet.com/forums/showthread.php/30707-One-last-wafer-thin-ESB-paint-job... I'm building a ROTJ SE Fett and I was also able to pick up Gauntlets, real horse hair Wookie Braids, a genuine Military Shelf half cape and an awesome flightsuit. I got some new boots through the other day which need to be weathered and toe spikes added I'm waiting hard on a Boba ROTJ Blaster which is currently being built for me by a guy in the US and next on the shopping list is the leather ammo belt along with a chin skirt for the helmet. I thought I would post this thread to show you my progress. I hope you find this enjoyable as I'm having great fun putting these together and can't wait to start trooping. |

| Man Stu! That looks incredible! The stormie outfit is great mate! It's cool to know that the 501st won't let just ANYONE with a stormtrooper costume in, but they have to put the time and effort to make them look nice. The Tusken helmet is awesome too! I think I like that more than the Fett stuff! |

| Thanks guys.
I love the Tusken, it's a one off build by a guy in the US.
It's a relatively easy costume to put together.
I need to pick up some ammo pouches, these are very similar to what were used in the films...
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=360269074743&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_844wt_1139. c I then need to get an undersuit and then the over robes, leg wraps and boots. The Gaffi Staff is usually home made but I'm gonna get the staff head from a guy who casts real Fijian Totokia war clubs. And then the respirator. When I do this, the kids want Jawa outfits!! |

| Hiya Den, They can be mate. It depends how accurate you wanna get really. There's a good Tusken kit you can get from Godzilla. He sells them on RS and ebay sometimes. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Sand-People-Tusken-Raider-Mask-Kit-Professional-quality-/300436693639?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_Collectables_SciFi_fantasyCollectables_EH&hash=item45f36c2287#ht_500wt_1154 Also I'm selling a nice Stormtrooper helmet in my sale thread on here |

| Looks very good Stu, your new direction (sidetrack) in SW collecting! The Tusken helmet is awesome (you even scored the HT version ) but the Fett helmet beats it all Looked at the thread how it was made and it's a true work of art! ~Martijn |

| Well I had a near full dress rehearsal tonight. Still need to finish some parts including strapping for the thigh armour as it's not secure. Also need to fit the Knee plate and ammo belt to the knees and the Thermal Detonator to the back of the belt. I have a new holster for my blaster on its way which will be rivetted to the ammo belt. I was in this for about 15 minutes and I sweated buckets, trooping in this for a day wil certainly mean losing a few pounds. Should hopefully be applying for clearance at the weekend. |

| It’s the first time I have had the chance to check out this limelight and I was blown away!! I have to say the Stormtrooper Outfit looks fantastic Stu!! The Tusken Raider Head and Boba Helmet are unreal the look so realistic! I really hope you continue to build the costumes for those characters as well If I ever detoured from vintage into another hobby then it would definitely be costumes i just don’t think my budget would stretch that far! Just a question I think I read somewhere that people actual put cooling / fan systems in the helmet is that correct or not? |
