| I was locked and loaded to buy one when it came out. The only thing that stopped me was the lack of Flash player. It was a dealbreaker for me. Outside that though, it's an awesome device. |

| You just tell her the same thing you do when Star Wars packages arrive- LIE "it was really cheap & I really need it" or just hide it |

| Tim just show her the box and say " why would someone pack a DT Vader in this?" Then explain it was protection to keep a $3000 figure safe. Then when she is about to kill you just laugh and say you fooled her, its just an iPad. She will be so happy she won't realize you wasted money.
You're welcome |

| Phew!!
I think I may have avoided one potential landmine today. An expensive loose figure (real expensive) arrived from the UK at home yesterday. The seller (a nice fella from TIG) sent it signed for & declared the value on the outside [gulp]. Luckily my wife who would have normally been at home was out & didn't notice the card in the post box. I just rang them & arranged to collect it from thier depot on my afternoon off work tomorrow. |

| Hey Tim, I didn't see this thread. As most who know me, I am a bit of an Apple fan and I got an iPad when they first launched. Overall I think it is a great device, but it depends on what you want to do with it. As John said there is the lack of flash. I personally don't view a lot of flash content, so that didn't matter to me. I personally really like the portability as with the larger screen size it is closer to a laptop experience when browsing the web as compared to an iPhone/smartphone. I take the iPad more on trips instead of my laptop unless I have some heavy computing to do. I'm looking forward to just taking that with me to CV where as normally I would take the laptop. I've scanned in quite a bit of my collection library and paired it with the document reader app, good reader which opens quite a few different file types.
After using OS 4 on the iPhone, I really wish it was out on the iPad. It would be great if it had the folders and task switcher. It is supposed to come out some time this fall. Really you just have to figure out how you want to integrate it with your computing as it can do many things, but it just depends on what apps you get. It obviously does have limitations from a normal computer, but I find for most basic things checking email, browsing web, watching movies, etc it is a pretty good experience. |

I'll talk to you re any apps you recommend then. Sounds good Tim. Just stay away from the games Angry Birds HD and Plants VS Zombies. My wife got hooked on both of them. |
