Hi.

Although I've been collecting Star Wars figures for most of my life I've got to admit to knowing very little about vintage M.O.C.'s.. so please be gentle.

I got this here carded Tri-Logo Squid Head figure back in the mid 90's from a car boot sale:

..& was wondering if it's unusual to find the Tri-Logo version with a blue Blaster instead of the correct grey one?
Tri-Logo Squid Head Question 11749122385_93ed252a61_c

I'm fairly certain it's a genuine factory seal (& not a re-seal), the card's in a poor state & the bloke I got if off certainly wasn't a specialised dealer or a fellow collector, indeed this figure (& a carded Kenner Chief Chirpa I bought off the same guy) were in a box of junk from underneath his table & only cost me (if memory serves) about 50p.

So my question is: Is this blue blaster Tri-Logo release is a common find, some sort of rare variant or just a factory error?.

Thanks in advance

Your bubble seal looks genuine to me.
From what I have seen, it is fairly common to find Tri-Logo figures with the wrong weapon or even no weapon at all, so I wouldn't worry about it.
Nice piece by the way.  Very Happy

Many thanks  Very Happy

I'm pondering whether or not to invest in one of those nice (G.W. Acrylic) display cases.. although, due to the poor condition of the backing card, I suspect it's probably worth going to that kind of expense

Personally I would say go for the acrylic case.

In some cases they help beat up MOCS look very good from a normal viewing distance.
I have a pretty bad beater Leia Bespin 31B that outside the case is just ugly but inside, it looks so much better and I find myself taking a second look at it at times thinking someone upgraded it for me in my sleep! haha

That said, they are expensive for what they are and you might get addicted to them so take it as you will. Smile

cheers!
Very Happy

Yep, they certainly are addictive, I initially only intended to buy one for my French Jawa then splashed out on a couple of others for my two M.O.C Action Force figures.

Buying one for Muton may seem a bit extreme, the least popular A.F. figures ever (M.O.C. sell for peanuts even on ebay), but as it's been personally signed by the great Mr Bob Brechin himself  bow  it seemed well worth the expense.
