If a new Star Wars fan now decided to collect all the vintage figures (just normal released figures) it be no problem. However, do you think its possible for a new fan to collect the new line? new line as it from 1995-2013? How many figures have they been? It seems like it be hard to get them all. Just me? Counting the main released, then stores that had there own figures, a few comic con ones, etc.

That takes some dedication. I love crowded shelves of figures.

As with Vintage most people just pick a specialist area. eg. POTF2, the Vintage collection 30th Anniversary collection, Sideshow Gentle Giant etc

I will say this though. The upside of a new collector of the more modern items should be able to get most of the figures for about $1 a pop. Heck, I think most of the Ep 1 figures people have a hard time giving away.

You'd probably be better off picking a line or a movie on which to focus and go from there because there are 1000+ figures in the modern line.

According to Sansweet's book, it's actually over 2500 figures now (that's including vintage)! There was a time when I had nearly EVERY loose figure between 1995 and 2005, but eventually the pace was too much. I sold a bunch, and now only pick and choose the best ones to add to my displays.

That is an awesome collection there, aussiejames. And shows some serious dedication as well. I was thrilled with the potf2 figures in 1995. Very exciting to see to SW brand at my local grocery store. Mi quickly snapped up the first wave and I was hooked. I lost it, though once all the card variations started comingout and it was almost impossible to find certain figures.

I dipped my toes back in a bit whenever I saw a figure that captured my fancy, but did not try to 'get em al' until 2005 and the clone madness of the RoS figures hit the shelves. I managed to stick with it until the recent vintage collection and then lost steam again.

Definitely takes some dedication to nabbing every new figure. Again, awesome bunch of plastic on your dsplay shelves!

The collection is not mine

I started collecting modern Star Wars, and ultimately got back into collecting vintage, I gave up on Modern for a few reasons,

1 - it ot silly with reissues and battle packs that cost 30 quid for one new figure and 5 reissues
2 - not really interested in the Clone Wars stuff which took the main stage
3 - the prices went through the roof, you can actually buy most of the basic vintage figures loose for the same price as a shit figure that came out yesterday!

There was a point when I had more money than I new what to do in my early modern collecting years and I was spending 100 quid a week on modern stuff and still couldn't keep up, so in answer to your original question, I guess it would be hard.
