This is a sad day for me and An. Our beloved cat Pluk has left us. We went to see the veterinarian this morning as Pluk’s belly had grown a bit bigger all of a sudden this week. I didn't think too much about it, probably just a small infection that could be cured by antibiotics. The picture of An and Pluk (below) was made this morning at the veterinarian, still hoping for the best. She was however diagnosed with FIP (Feline infectious peritonitis) a fatal viral disease for which there is no cure. She would slowly die from suffocation within a few days, because of appearing tissue water in her longs. On X-rays we could see that one lung was already half filled. Our poor Pluk had no chance and we decided to her sleep while she was sitting comfortable on my lap. This afternoon something peculiar happened. You have to know that we were the second home for Pluk. She lived the first 12 years of her live with another family in a nearby village. One of their children got allergic for cats and therefore they made the tough decision to find another good home for her. We became that new home. After they brought Pluk two years ago, we exchanged some mails and thereafter we lost contact, never saw them again, that's how these things go…. While walking in our snow covered city this afternoon, I suggested that we would mail Pluk's first family to say that Pluk had left us for good. Just 5 minutes later, we saw the complete family (mom, dad, two children) appearing on the other side of a street, waiting for a red pedestrian light. The light went green, and we walked to each other, and stopped in the middle of the street. Their first question was “How is Pluk?”, and we told them what happened just a few hours before. A sad and joyful moment at the same time. Both families – the two homes for Pluk - realized the love which they had received from her. You can call it a big coincidence, whatever you want to call it. But for us it felt like Pluk brought us together, to say goodbye to her two families. It feels unreal now, when we just came home, there was nobody to greet us…... But after that unexpected encounter, we feel she is still with us, stonger then ever… On Facebook we wrote: Dear Pluk, thank you for all the joy and wisdom, which you brought to us. Enjoy further on the Other Side, yet close to us. Love, Marco & An ***** *****

Sorry for your and An's loss of Pluk, Marco. Always sad when a family pet leaves us. And what a bizarre event to meet Pluk's original family like that!

All our toughts are with you Marco , we lost our Casimir ( Chartreux cat ) two years ago ( in one month ) , he had a stomac cancer , we didn't noticed early enough nor the first veterinarian we went to and he died a couple of days after it was diagnosed. Two years later we still think about our little friend, a bit like you it was not our cat at first but he came more and more often at our home until the peoples who "owned" him left the street and wanted us to keep him. He became our best friend, always waiting for our return or for giving us all his love. I have tears growing in my eyes to just think of him at the moment. Sometimes i even see little shadows in the house and i'm sure he's still here, may be not in flesh and blood but whith all his kindness. Be strong

So sorry to hear about Pluk Marco. I always liked hearing about her and her adventures in chat. Sari and I lost two of our cats almost five years ago. And we still talk about them almost every day. Cats are a very unique being and we're better for knowing them.
