| I just got this in the mail this afternoon. I bought a lot (39 loose figures) off of Kijiji (free local classifieds) in the Ottawa, Ontario area. All the lady could tell me was that she bought them from a church garage sale. This Luke was among them. I don't own a DT Luke "YET" and haven't seen one in person (other than pictures), so I don't have a good point of reference to compare it with. I have gone through the threads that I could find on the forum trying to find out information to make some sort of decision. So I'm going to need a little help with this one. I hope you guys aren't tired of these questions yet. http://www.imperialgunneryforum.com/t3786-the-official-fotw-thread-luke-skywalker-farmboy http://www.imperialgunneryforum.com/t3975-re-luke-farmboy-variants http://www.imperialgunneryforum.com/t3646-dt-luke-circle-variant http://www.imperialgunneryforum.com/t3325-found-a-dt-luke It's 9.30 is in the evening and dark out side, so taking pictures in the natural light is out of the question. So I have tried taking some pictures inside. I'm definitely going to take some better pictures tomorrow. First, it looks like it has the #2 COO stamp. I did read everyone's thoughts that the stamp should be the #1 COO stamp, I think? It also looks like someone has carved little bits off of the saber hilt, so I don't see any letters or dots and no circles up the shaft when I use the magnifying glass. The other thing is that it looks to have a mushroom tip end. The odds of finding a holy grail item like this is astronomical and I don't have that good of luck. I would settled for a regular DT Luke. I know this would be either a fantastic find or I just got a nice loose figure with a repo saber for $2.75. I don't have high hopes for this one and my guess would be that I got a nice loose figure with a repo saber.. Any and all help with this one would be appreciated. Thanks Clint |

| Sorry Clint, think it's a nice repro.
Most tell tale (to me) is the top of the saber. No break points |

| I think that it is a repo as well. I had a better look at it in the daylight and I don't see the break points either. It just confirmed what I was thinking as well. Thanks guys |

| Just to confirm - that is 100% fake. The color, (lack of) break points are the two biggest signs. The Mushroom Tip sabers are all prototypes, and the running theory I've had about the actual numbers of those made in house at Kenner has been confirmed at this point. (two MTs for each character; Luke, Vader, Ben) Finding one of those "in the wild" would be like finding two complete sets of all the regular DTs at the same time. The repros AJ' posted are creations from the TIE box art, and even those examples are most likely one of the known MTs, with some Kenner artist embellishment. The time line for when those pics would have been taken was way beyond the time line when even the DT sabers were dropped from production. Another reason why they are considered not to exist. Bill |

| I came very close to having been the one to have purchased that lot of figures. I too saw that ad and sent an email to the person to see if the figures were still available. The ad was just a group photo of several figures with luke in the bottom front with the "D.T." sabre fully extended. The price was fairly reasonable for the group of figures without a d.t. sabre in the mix so I considered taking the chance on the lot. It was only when I got the reply from the seller that I felt a confirmed red-flag when up on the legitamicy of the sabre, the email arrived as being sent from an email address with the word "toy......@...com" in it. I assumed that if they had 'toy' in their addy they knew it wasn't legit, which they never claimed it to be btw. They told me the lot was available but I decided to pass on the deal. If I were closer to Ottawa I might have gone by to check them out. |

| They couldn't tell me much either and the way it was posed look to go to be true, but I took the chance, but the rest of figures looked ok and it turns out the Luke has nice tight limbs and great paint. So for $2.75 for each figure. I thought what the hell. I got some nice figures in the lot and the rest I can use to customize someday.
I had missed out on a VC Jawa that was listed last christmas in Elmira, ON. and I wasn't quick enough to get that lot. I've been kicking myself ever since. So I thought I would take a chance on this lot.
Thanks for the info Thirdfloor, where are you located? What do you collect? I'm always looking to meet vintage collectors that are in the Southern Ontario region. |
