Hi all,

I need to store my collection for a while and wondered if anyone out there has any knowledge about good or bad ideas for doing this?

I have some MOC and reseals that are in the acrylic cases available though this site but need to tuck them away for a year or so. Has anyone had any bad experiences with storing things like this in a loft? I know it's not ideal as the temperature changes so often but I wonder if this really damages the cards or yellows the bubbles? The acrylic cases would then be put inside a box and the bagged so there should be some extra protection and I've seen quite a few listings in the past where sellers state that they've had their MOC's in their lofts for 30 years and I don't ever see any yellowing or card deterioration so it would be good to hear your thoughts.

Also I remember reading about not putting loose figures in zip lock bags as this can effect the figures. Does anyone have any bad experience with this or does it generally seem the thing to do?

I'm sure this topic has been bought up before so I apologies if it's an old subject and also it may take me a while to get back to people because of family commitments but I hope you understand and know that I really appreciate any suggestions. I'll post my Palitoy's up soon to contribute to this great forum.

Thanks for the thread, really useful. It sounds like ventilation is the key to storing them so hopefully the acrylic cases will work well for the card backs, just need to find an alternative to the loft ideally!

np, sound's like you got a good idea how to store them, just avoid the loft.

this is a topic that comes up often, I even asked the same questions.

I think some sort of sticky topic should be put out since this is coming back often.

I thought it might be a question asked many times before. I'm still wondering if the bubbles will start to yellow if the temperature fluctuates a lot or if it's just when they're in direct sunlight. It seems to me that you see a lot of the newer (well relatively newer), Jedi bubbles that have yellowed compared with the ANH and ESB ones. Maybe they changed the plastic and it was less stable?

Anyway, sounds like a good contender for a sticky topic to get all the knowledge into one place and thanks for your 2 cents!

There are many people with different opinions on this one. Even if you read all of this, you will probably end up being more confused then when you started. Everyone has an opinion on the does and don't of the subject. Most of the things being said in this thread are right. Many factors will affect the toy and so far i don't know of any solution that is would take care of everything. But i think the biggest problem is the yellowing and that is what you have to focus on when trying to preserve your toys...you can live with a few paint rubs but when your stormie turns into banana colored its not fun....

but yes i maintain that this should become a sticky since it is a very important aspect of collecting....
