| Since our resident coin aficiando hasn't pulled his finger out yet and posted this up ...here it is. - Quote :
- It was a dark time for Star Wars toys. With toy companies battling for ultimate power in the universe, could a simple coin bring balance to The Force and inject excitement into a waning toy line?
In Coining a Galaxy, James Gallo & Mark Salotti explore the phenomenon of Kenner's Vintage POWER OF THE FORCE, DROIDS & EWOKS Star Wars Collector Coins...from their concept and creation to their circulation and their untimely cancellation!
Beautifully designed by Jeff Correll and spanning 82 pages, Coining a Galaxy includes a gallery depicting every known Kenner Star Wars Collector Coin, classified according to rarity, with pre-production and unreleased coins, text outlines and a checklist with price guide.
It will be available for $19.99 at Star Wars Celebration VI in Orlando, Florida from August the 23rd to the 26th and then available for online purchase at: www.coiningagalaxy.com
With a limited edition of only 500 books in the galaxy, get yours before there's a bounty.
There's never been anything like it. James G http://forum.rebelscum.com/t1084766/ Sample page. Check the rest out here--->> http://www.coiningagalaxy.com/ Looks like they've done a good job with it. Should be a great resource for coin collectors the world over.

| Looks nice! I'm not a coin collector, but at only $20, I'd consider grabbing one if they're still available after CVI. |

| I wanted to give the people involved in the book some time to post here if they wanted to which is why I haven't said anything.
I'm really excited for this book and it came completely out of nowhere. I know this will be one of the first things on my list once the Exhibitor hall opens at CVI. |

| Looks okay. Like Jesse, it's not my sort of thing, but for $20 it's worth a look, imo. I wonder how many more books will come out until the SAGA is over |

| There is certainly some great reading material to be had nowadays, thanks to some dedicated members of various forums. When Todd finally gets done, and John Kellerman brings out his second edition...it will be quite a cool little library going on if you've had a chance to pick them all up over the last few years.

| Lol, you got me Josh. I kinda thought that now TIG was getting up there in size & popularity, one of the guys involved might have wanted to announce it here. It sure looks like an awesome book, very comprehensive, & handily sized to take along with you to events. I might be a little excited about getting my hands on a copy!! |

| Who cares where it gets promoted? Does anyone really give a shit? Buy the fucking thing if you want it or, not. It's not worth losing sleep over it not being announced here, by the authors. It's not our fault they dont know there is 3 forms of communication in the SW forum world. Telephone Television Tell TIG |

Far from losing sleep over it, but in forumland, just like in real life, I don't support members of my "community" that don't support me. There are local small business' that I do not frequent because they support and promote my competitors, and I've gone out of my way to frequent places own or run by people that are clients at my shop. It's just the way I am. That said, I'm on the fence about this book, I don't collect coins, but enjoy them. I consider all 3 people involved to be friends, but , I have my reservations because of the above mentioned mindset. Cheers Joe |

It's about time to make TIG one of the biggest for Star Wars Vintage collecting. I sure hope the TIG team is working hard to make that happen. |

Cheers Joe Fair enough. I get all that, right up to the bit when you said...they were your friends. Wouldn't you support it for that reason alone? |

| I'd support it based on Mark Salotti being a good guy and Jeff doing some great design work. It looks like a good book and a cool resource and I'd like to add it, but the third party here gives me a huge pause in actually shelling out the money. If Mark is there and selling them, then I'd be inclined to pick one up from him.
Don thinking I may sharpie out the third name on the book if I do buy it. |
