Brian's Toys grading scale Empty
PostSubject: Brian's Toys grading scale   Brian's Toys grading scale I_icon_minitimeMon Jul 09, 2012 5:57 am

I've seen Brian's Toys mentioned on this forum before so am after some advice/feedback on their grading scale. I have read the descriptions for grading of loose figures. Has anyone has bought from there and if yes did you find the grading accurate? I notice the pictures against a C-5 graded figure and a C-8 are identical. So the pictured item is not neccesarily the one being offered for sale.

My question in short form is if their grade is C-8 for a Blue Snaggletooth is it worth $200??

Any advice appreciated.

Cheers

Greg

Brians toys is over priced. Their 'grading' is far better than most sellers. I have won a few auctions from them & have found the items better than expected. $200 is too much IMO.

Thanks AJ,

I really want a nice looking Blue Snag but, unlike previous figures, I have been looking and comparing conditions and sale prices for the last couple of months. The condition and price they are fetching on ebay is leading me to think in order to get one with very minor wear is going to set me back between $175-$250.

Guess I will try to remain patient and keep hunting for the right one.

I happen to have my first buy from there today actually. And i found the figure bettet than the grading. I bought a 3po rem limbs with emperor offer and a coinoffer sticker in according to brians c3. I expected it to be far worse than it was. Hope that helps a bit.

my 2 cents regarding current sale (not asking) prices for ungraded items.

C-7: 100-120
C-8: 130-180
C-9: 180-250
C-9+: 250-350
C-9,5+: 400+

loose mint examples with good pictures usually fetch at least as much a sealed example. That is cause most people are suspicious and u cannot always be sure that a sealed one is mint. Actually I had three or four bagged examples and none was really ded mint perfekt. I am not talking about graded ones but for comparison: if u have a afa 90 quality pieces, you could even pay up to 500 usd for it.

Graded items sell for much more, even if u can obviously see the flaws. I have seen afa 85's that would count C-7 on my scale and they sold for 200% of what the very same items would have fetched if it was freed from the acrylic case. Graded bagged is strange as well- ana afa 85 sealed one can go for 700 or 450 the other day, you never know. I think-for optical reasons people love afa U 85 as its untouched but allows a better view on the pic. I have to agree its a shame to opne up one, ont he other hand its almost impossible to find a dead mint loose one.
Really weird...

best, Mike

Not sure if I'd call it C-8+ but thats a reasonable price for this condition anyway!

I have used brians toys for heaps of my loose stuff, and i have found there grading top be just about the best ive found anywhere, yes they are a tad over priced on there high end stuff, but they have never let me down, always packed very well, never ripped me off in any way...
i bought a C7 snag of them a few years ago for alot cheaper than what they have that one at, and it was a very good piece, with only a bit of silver paint rub of the foot of one boot, i was very happy with it...
i have noticed there prices on snags n yaks have gone up in the last few years a bit, but they sell them with ease, and with them i always know the order will turn up on time and very well packed, infact i just made an order off them the other week..
for their loose stuff they use the one pic to sell all the one figure, they should change this for the blue snags n yaks, but they really do have a very high standard of rating imo, and they have great customer service over the phone, make sure you go onto their catalog list, it comes out 4 or 6 times a year with every item they have priced n many picks, cheers
