| Subject: Admiral Ackbar Staff ? Sat Feb 04, 2012 10:12 am | |
| Hi guys, I have 4 Admiral Ackbar Staffs from USA. Some months ago I bought 2 Staffs here in Denmark. Both Staffs was much thicker than the 4 I have from USA.
Could they be from Tri-logo cards ? and does any of you know if the tri-logo staff is thicker than the kenner staff ?
Maybe some of you have ackbar on tri-logo card ?

| If it were me I'd much prefer to have the thicker staff. |

| Hi Marco,
I have 2 V1 from some danish childhood collections, they could come from european cards, but there was also sold kenner cards in Denmark.
I have 4 V2 all bought in USA but again there was sold kenner cards and tri-logo cards in USA and those could have been around in many countries.
The only thing I can confirm is the 2 V1 the guys I bought them from was the only owners and the cards they came from was bought in Denmark, unfortunately they could not remember what type of card the figures came from, one of them could remember what store it was bought in. But that did not help much.
Maybe Joe have Ackbar on Tri-logo card and confirm something.

The other one i have (sold) is V1 , i can only remember them from my own child hood . And i had a few akbar's . I think i stil have one of them some where . I have only seen V2 as a repo where i it was white'ich in the center and then paintet black . Before that and this post i only thoght it was a BAD repo version . Did not know that there was to versions of it .

| Thanks Søren :-) I will read the mail I also have a little theory, V1 was with the Taiwan figure and V2 was with the Hong Kong figure. The 2 V1 I have came both with a Taiwan figure and I also have 2 Admiral Ackbar in sealed baggies with Hong Kong stamp and they have both V2. What do you guys think ? and does any of you have ackbar in baggie or on card, so they can check this theory for me ? |

| Here's a link that may be of intrest, I had (still might) 2 V1 staffs in 2 different sizes. The original thread is in here some where but I coppied this in the reference section. Dont know how true but since then I've seen the thicker one with a loose meccano variant and also described as the tri-logo variant. http://www.imperialgunneryforum.com/t2532-ackbar-staff-question |

| Thanks guys, the theory crashed a little bit.
Thanks Marco for the picture, could it be that it is a taiwan figure on a hong kong card ? I think I remember a thread on the forum some months ago where we talked about that the coo not always matched the stamp on the figure ?
Hi snaggletooth, sounds interesting about meccano and tri-logo. Do you know what stamp there is on the figures from those cards ?
Hi yeah-sus, to me this look like the thick staff, but I could be wrong, mate.
Hi Mike, cool moc and nice to know it is on the Tri-logo card. Can you see the coo on the figure ?

| To me the V1 (thick staff) is more common. My Tri MOC (now opened ) is V1 & all my loose Taiwan & HK figures have V1. I have a V2 thin staff with a no COO figure & a MIHK MOC & a MIHK baggie.

| Very interesting guys.
I also have a thick one from søren, søren received some palitoy cards with the figures. But he is not sure that this is the correct card for the figure.
But maybe the thick one is on tri-logo and palitoy cards and the thin one is on kenner cards and baggies.
What do you guys think ?

If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck. (It is a Taiwan Ackbar from appearance, "Made in Taiwan" is printed on the backside, and it has the thin staff, so your theory crashed totally not only a bit. Don't worry too much about that, theories are designed to be challenged, but once they are proven wrong, they need to be dismissed in honor of the truth) |

That sounds like a much better theory, Lars. Let's see whether other members can come up with evidence to counter this theory. |

| yeah-sus has pictured a MIHK MOC with fat V1 saber so if it is not a Palitoy or Tri card both theories fail.
not to come off as rude but "Rule 3. If you dont know, dont say. If you got theories, make sure you got some sorta proof to back it up. Nothings worse than having theories with no proof" |
